Mississippi State (164 votes) and Texas A&M (149) finished in the 26th and 27th slots, respectively. Other high vote-getters that failed to crack the top 25 include Oklahoma State (89) and Virginia Tech (70).

They won't fall quite as fast or as hard we did though, due to their softer sched. Especially the first two games, they will not lose them. If they win those two games pretty convincingly, and other teams ahead of them lose, they could actually move up in the poll some before they start taking some losses. That's the difference between acc and sec and their OOC games

I agree...Clempson is gonna have a basic meltdown with a stretch in their schedule from September 17 to November 7. I see a possible 5 losses in that stretch...Louisville, ND, GT, Miami and Florida State.

Sept. 17 - at Louisville.

Sept. 26. Open.

Oct. 3 - NOTRE DAME.

Oct. 10 - GEORGIA TECH.

Oct. 17 - BOSTON COLLEGE.

Oct. 24 - at Miami.

Oct. 31 - at NC State.

Nov. 7 - FLORIDA STATE.

And if he doesn't - or suffers some sort of 'sophomore' jinx what's your prognosis? Are you saying Clemson's season is on the shoulders of one guy? We lost Lattimore but Wilds stepped-up, went 100+ and we still smacked Clemson by double-digits. We lost Shaw but Thompson stepped-up - and we still smacked Clemson by double-digits. You won last year but we were coming off a five-year roll of double-digit wins ... it's not 'zackly back to parity yet. ANYONE still in high school or younger have witnessed the Gamcocks smack Clemson more often than the other outcome since entering grade school ... but you wouldn't know it listening to your fans.

I'd be embarrassed to repeatedly claim my team 'out-recruited' my rival given the results since Spurrier arrived at USC. He's 6-4 vs. Clemson and the Gamecocks outscored Clemson by 47 points in those 10-games.

Head to head vs. Dabo Swinney the HBC's 5-2 while outscoring Dabo's team's by 49 points.

If we've been 'out-recruited' then the evidence is irrefutable Clemson has been out-coached given those stats.

I'll be the first to admit November-rankings not July are the one's that matter. Clemson's #12 could last a few weeks but it won't be there forever. They'll be good but so will we.

Five things I'll never forget just from the last few seasons given the non-stop Clemson-fan hype 'bout their football team and their comments about ours. 1) Of course our winning record over Clemson since Spurrier's arrival; 2) SC's 35-7 smackdown of UGA on ESPN's national 'GameDay' 'game of the week'; 3) SC's 17-point smackdown over undefeated, then-No. 1 Alabama on ESPN's national 'GameDay' 'game of the week'; 4) FSU's 50+ point humiliation of Clemson on ESPN's national 'GameDay'' 'game of the week' (including that AWESOME bus ride from one side of the stadium to the other!!!); and 5) WVA's 70-point RECORD -SETTING total embarrassment of Clemson in the Orange Bowl, after which the Governor of WVA had the WVA logo inserted over their Interstate Highway 70-MPH signs with an orange tiger paw and the number "33" inserted underneath. Fantastic!

We have many good players - and they receive far superior coaching than Clemson players. The 'evidence' for that is what 'he/they' said (Clemson's recruiting -class 'rankings' and the actual W/L record).

First baseball title since the 50s. Basketball got lucky that Duke didn't have to play UK (gifted with a great draw as usual). Football BCS record is abysmal since 1998. I'll give credit to ACC football last year as the rivalry weekend was great for the ACC as was its performance against the SEC in the orange bowl, but one year does not a great conference make. My prediction is that things return to normal this year.

Troll that Hooters out by I-85 outside of Clemson and strike up a conversation with the best-looking redneck woman in the place (they'll all have at least a smigen of a jowl - but look past it). some of 'em are 'only child's' (for years upstate OBGYN doctors, as a gift to humanity - have often 'worked in' an unannounced procedure to keep such 'occurrences' from occurring again) thus no older brothers to work around ... and if she's at least 20-years old chances are PRETTY decent that 'daddy's' already had at least one 'medical' scare - PROBE, they'll testify.

Assess the size of papa's farm and what his 'head-count' is normally whenever hauling hogs to the Smithfield slaughter plant up in Tarboro, NC ... and inquire if he's hauling 'pigs' or hogs - I know you'd think there's no difference just looking at the gal you're talking to, but there is.
Invite her to an auto-show and show up, you might enjoy it - I always did.
Find an old Buick Electra 225, preferably something from the early 70's and get her in the back seat. It's not quite a 'king' but it's easily comparable to a queen size mattress.
Show her one of those 3-carat rings that are 'bout half carbon and HOLD ON.
Within about a week you'll be looking at 'inheriting' several hundred acres (and TRYING to keep her momma from getting in the shower with you). HOLD OUT on that until you've got the Deed in-hand.

List the farm on loop-net 'commercial' and go visit her 'aunt'. She'll be older, but probably not much past her early 30's. Rinse and repeat.
