At the University of Florida, he was a member of an SEC Championship team that also won an NCAA title. That team had 4 members who would play on the PGA tour.
Andy was a 3 time All American golfer at Florida. Outside of golf, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He passed away today (Saturday).
He developed respiratory issues from Covid and he had a double lung transplant last month.
He was a member of two Ryder Cup teams.
For some reason, Andy Bean was one of the very first golfers I remember watching on tv. I think it was his name that stuck out to me, but when I would hear the commentators mention him, I had to watch. Super talented guy.
Andy's good friend, Alan Pope, described Andy as a strong Christian man who would do anything for anyone.
