"Basically we're getting an outside linebacker we hope they don't run at."

Clowney defends the run! Ask Michigan.

I'll be honest...it would not break my heart if my Redskins picked him up.
I hear you BG. It looks like its gonna be him or Dante Fowler. In reality the Skins want out of that pick because a pass rusher is not their biggest need. Thus trade down and get a solid O lineman. Until they address the OL, our QB's are going to keep getting killed. Oh I yearn for the day of the "HOGS".

Beasley is a very good player. He actually became a much better athlete and football player at Clemson, primarily because of Venables. Kid works hard, seems to have a good attitude, I'd draft him.

Hopefully the Mallicah Goodman experience has scared off the Falcons from Clemson players for a while. But I doubt it. I think they're going to pick him if he's there. So I'll be running out to get a Beasley jersey. Not.

The HOGS were the best! Anchored by a former Clemson Tiger in Jeff Bostic.

I know. I always found it ironic his brother Joe was much more highly touted and yet Jeff just bounced around as a free agent. Then he lands with the Skins and becomes an All Pro. The 83 draft along with some key FA signings that brought in players like Jeff Bostic laid the foundation to those three Super Bowl titles. HTTR.

I'd draft him too, but I would make him my 2nd or 3rd pick for my team.

He'll end up with the 3rd, 8th or 10th pick. He will do well wherever he ends up going. He is a great athlete. Have no doubt he will make it in the NFL if he stays healthy and can keep that weight on. Seems like a good kid, no matter where he went to school.

So you think a team should shy away from a Clemson player just because one draft pick didnt pan out? So by that logic should they also avoid SC players because Cliff Matthews didnt turn into a superstar?

??????????

Maybe it is just my lack of paying close attention, but I don't recall Beasley doing much against good competition in his career. He padded his stats against weaker opponents/players. He is fast, but don't think he is big enough to warrant such a high pick especially at a position that he didn't play in college.

He's a nice player, but certainly not worth #8. He struggles against the run, and will primarily be a 3rd down pass rusher, which he is very good at. Falcons are my 2nd favorite team, so I hope he does well. I think he'd have been a good late first round pick, but....

Last year at this time, I thought I read or heard that Beasley was better than Clowney. Clowney was drafted #1. Shouldn't Beasley have been drafted before the draft started?

Vic Beasley will have a good career, people can put aside your hatred for Clemson for one minute to admit this kid can ball!!
It will depend on whether or not he can defend the pass. I just can't see him as a DE in the NFL. OLB will likely be his future.

Thats exactly what it was. Only two of his sacks last season game against weak(FCS) teams. He had multiple sack games against FSU, UNC, and USC. He also had sacks against UGA, NCST, UL and OU. He also had a bunch of games with multiple TFLs.

Did he, by chance, set the record for most sacks in a game @ Memorial Stadium in Clem?

WTH does that have to do with his production for his career??? I didnt once mention Clowney or did I say Beasley was better. Jesus man stop being a troll and making the conversation about something it isnt.

Tbh, he'll probably play more downs in his rookie season than Clowney will in his first AND second combined. Just sayin

No he played every game the last two seasons. He was a backup 3 years ago and it was his first year at DE so he was limited in his playing time.

I was hoping against hope that yes the Falcons would shy away from Beasley at 8. I really wouldn't care if that Goodman experience would be a reason or not. I was being flippant I just wanted one. They have a ton of problems and needs all over the place.

My thinking is that Beasley at 8 was too high. We will see. (I think they're going to regret passing on Gurley.) But that's all past, and believe it or not, I hope I am totally wrong and Beasley kicks ass as a Falcon.

If Vic has the same injury as Clowney did, I would doubt it. Let's not forget that Clowney had micro- fracture surgery and some players don't come back from that. So, let's not compare an every down player to a 3rd down specialist. Vic is a good athlete, but will never be game planned against in the NFL.

He will end up as a great pass rusher for Atlanta. He will not help much in the interior, but Atlanta did very little to put any pressure on the QB last year. I like the Falcons and I hope Beasley can produce for them. He's a Falcon now.
