I realize you guys are the cat's meow and think you'll win every game by double-digits ... and you SHOULD early-on opening with 1) Wofford then 2) Appalachian State - but the next two games are 3) on the road against Louisville then 4) at home against Notre Dame.

A very odd early-season 'open-date' to rest and prepare for the Irish will help Clemson prior to playing at-home, especially since the Irish, even with their four-leaf clovers don't quite enjoy the 'luck of the tigers' and instead of a week off and games against mid-conference opponents will have played Texas, Virginia and Georgia Tech before coming to Clemson.

My question is ... when the games start getting 'CLOSE' and Clemson needs a 'kicker' WHO is going to kick?

Since Dabo sat Sammy Watkins for two games for weed (to his credit, even Auburn) ... what is Dabo going to do about Lasik's recent DUI and cocaine-bust where he refused both a blood and urine test? I KNOW the HBC's 'policy' for cocaine ... it's 'GONE' - but I don't know Dabo's. If it's not 'gone' it's certainly 4-5 games isn't it? All I've heard is he's 'currently suspended' ... maybe they're waiting until they watch the other guys kick before announcing the actual 'penalty'.

Lasik started last year shaky for you but had a heckava' 2nd half for Clemson, and he's the only guy you have who's ever even tried a FG or XPT at Clemson to my knowledge.

FG kickers ARE IMPORTANT ... just ask three-years in a row undefeated going into the game with Miami "Wide left! Wide left! Good lord, this year it's wide RIGHT!" Bobby Bowden from FSU.

What's the 'news'? Or IS the Clemson staff really waiting to conduct 'tryouts' before announcing Lasik's penalty? I don't know squat about 'drugs' or their 'criminal' penalties except what I've heard on Richard Pryor tapes where he says "when you look in the jail's it's all us ... 'specially when you talkin' 'bout cocaine."

But I don't 'count' Richard Pryor as the last word on juris prudence in Pickens County, SC. You guys, on the other hand are "all-in" ... so I'm expecting that you "all know".

WHO is going to kick FG's and XPT's for Clemson? It MIGHT be 'important' at some time during the season. They might not ALL be 'double-digit' blowouts, even if that's what you expect.

If it IS Lasik and you run him out there against us are we allowed to compel a 'drug test' prior to the attempt? What's the 'rule' on that? You guys 'ought be up on ALL this stuff!!! Help us out.

Alex Spence will have to step up. He is a redshirt freshman. 2014: Redshirted. Before Clemson: Rated as the No. 34 kicker in the nation by ESPN ... Shrine Bowl selection ... was 14-17 on field goals and 36-37 on PATs as a senior ... AAAA Specialist-of-the-Year as a junior ... was 11-13 on field goals and averaged over 40 yards per punt as a junior ... coached by Trey Woodberry at West Florence High School ... recruited by Danny Pearman. Personal: Majoring in pre-business ... born Nov. 4, 1995.

we all know Dabo will have him back before Louisville. Everybody knows how Dabo talks a good game but when it comes to a player they need, It's always he's such a good kid, this was his first time trying drugs and drinking while driving. He will be back before the first important game. That's how Dabo rolls

Ok, I gotta ask. What the hell is pre-business? Is it like Eric Stratton "pre-law, pre-med, same thing"

Like when Dabo suspended Sammy Watkins for the Auburn game, even though it was the only time Watkins ever got in trouble?

he waits months to suspend him and only suspends him then because of the bad media he was getting from it. And then he gets the cop fired. That's how he rolls

Yeah, like when it took dumbo 3 months to figure out how to get out of doing anything. Watson never missed a practice, full player privileges, just sat out 120 minutes on game day.

Watkins was suspended immediately; the punishment wasn't announced until later, because Dabo wanted to see if Watkins had done everything that was asked of him over the summer (same as Lakip.) The cop who arrested Watkins was not fired. You're probably confusing him with the cop who gave Dabo a speeding ticket, but was fired for bragging about it on a Gamecock website while still on duty and using a police department computer.

Not true at all. Watson never was suspended from the team, only for 2 games.

I'm sure he was talking about the cop with the traffic ticket, where dumbo wouldn't do as the office asked & stay in his vehicle. Where dumbo's brother tried to intimidate & threaten him. And the mayor wanted to talk the cop out of issuing the ticket. Yeah, that cop.

Also, the cop wasnt bragging on a Gamecock website. He was correcting false accounts of what happened from him home computer. Then just edited it while at work (which every officer/employee does!). That was just a clemsux excuse to fire him.

CostenoTiger you must not know much about clemson football or you just have selective memory loss. Watkins was not suspended immediately, he never missed one minute of team activities. And the cop was fired. The cop that pulled Dabo was also fired but that's another story.

Hold on, the cop with the watson arrest was fired, too!?! I'm sure that was just a coincidence. clemsux never does anything that isn't above board. Bwahahaha.

From what I recall, the police officer wasn't fired for using department resources for personal reasons. To my knowledge, that's not a crime as much as it is inappropriate.

It seems like he was fired for "stealing" department gas for personal reasons. Unless he had a 55 gal drum filling it, we are likely speaking of a being fired over a 5 gallon can of gas for his mower, etc. at home (approximately a $15 crime).

I'd be willing to bet, although a policy not to take it, it is probably a regular practice among some. At that point though, it seems as though the appropriate people were pissed and looking for a reason to get rid of him.. Conspiracy? Maybe. Maybe not..

The punishment certainly does not seem to fit the crime..

An excerpt from an article in The Post and Courier, shows he was not suspended immediately..

“This is a reminder that good people make poor decisions. But, there are consequences for your actions ... and there will be in this case. ... I am in the process of gathering the facts and discipline will be determined when I have completed that process.”

This "quote" almost made me pass out from laughter:

The officer asked Watkins if there was a reason the car smelled smell like marijuana. Watkins said, “No, I just got the car not long ago,” according to the police report.

LMAO

what the hell is a "pre-business major"?

I don't understand the uproar over the refusal of a breathalyzer and blood test. any lawyer would tell you if you are drop dead sober not to do a field sobriety and never blow.

I do have a problem with the cocaine but if you want to get technical Sammy Watkins had adderall in his possession which is not different then cocaine. the dui will be down graded to reckless driving as it would be for anyone who got a good lawyer. especially if it's the first offense and you did not blow and you hired someone local. it's just the way it is.

with that said GO COCKS AND SPOT THE FOOTBALL.

Actually they are VERY different but dont let facts get in the way of a good story.

dablow has demonstrated on multiple occasions that he is soft on discipline. Watkins was not immediately suspended. Joe Craig was not immediately suspended despite beating his girlfriend so badly she was treated at the ER. He did nothing initially after a lineman beat a CU student and Wando High grad so bad he was in a coma. He showed lack of maturity and control during his speeding ticket. Lakip was found with COCAINE! And dumbo has done nothing. He'll sit for the first two barn burners on that "competitive" clemp schedule and thats it.

How are these Clemson players passing their drug test. The players that are making the news are carrying these drugs with them. They are not 1st time users. 1st time users try drugs at friends places , etc. They don't buy drugs and ride around with them in the car. ( maybe you can in Pickens ) the only way these guys are getting caught is they are getting high and driving around Pickens.

The officer that arrested Watkins should have been fired for being incompetent. Watson was already checked and put into the police car when Watkibs told the cop missed a bag of dope that he had in his pants.

907, that's a good point. These are clearly not first time users and if they were being routinely tested, at least some would get popped. Another case of "what happens in Pickens, stays in Pickens."

I had the same thought, when I heard about Lakip getting charged with cocaine. Either the clemmons drug testing is a sham, or else they just don't do anything about a positive result. I tend to believe the latter.

Honestly missing cocaine on a drug test isnt hard at all unless you are testing once or twice a week every week. It has a half life(amount in your blood decreases by half) of around 60 minutes. It is totally gone from your system in 48-72 hours depending on how much you used. And before you ask NO I dont do it. It was one of the random facts that stuck in my first responder training.

bottom line, caught with cocaine and DUI you should be gone. Doesn't matter how good a lawyer you have. You did it, the coach knows you did it. you should be gone. But we are talking about Dabo so we all knew when it happened how it was going to turn out

Do you honestly think Carolina doesn't have kids on the team that smoke weed? I know Clemson does, along with Carolina and every other team out there. I bet even BYU, Navy, Army, Air Force have kids on the team that some weed!!! It's now legal in some states! Yeah Dabo should have kicked Watkins out of school and off the team for that one! 2 games was plenty for the first time getting in trouble. Just like I believe if one of your guys gets caught with weed for the first time it should be one to two games. Now Cocaine is a little different. I don't consider Cocaine use to be in line with smoking weed or drinking. I also think driving while drinking shouldn't be overlooked at all!!! I don't know how to handle that one, It would depend on the kids character up to this point.

college kids are going to go out and drink, Party and some are going to smoke weed. Doesn't mean they are bad kids! By the way how many games was Garcia suspended for keying a car after getting caught drinking? I think keying a car is a lot worse then a kid going to a party drinking or smoking weed. Keying a car is as disrespectful as it gets no matter how you look at it.

Kids will be kids, but the point is dumbo acts like he's some great disciplinarian. He's not. Had that happened at Carolina, Watson would have been suspended immediately. No team activities. Dumbo waited 3 months to try & figure a way out of doing anything. Too many people were watching, so he couldn't and watson sat on the sidelines for 2 games. Meanwhile, watson could still visit with recruits, practice, go to team meatings, etc. Not bad for being arrested for drugs---weed and prescription pills that weren't his.

I truly believe the main arguement here is what does Dildo do when a player is caught in a crime. His words (although he preaches the bible to the players) would have one believe he is tough on crime when his actions certainly display that he is, in fact, very weak on crime. If he truly teaches what he preaches then he needs to immediately suspend the player from all team activities and then gather the facts. The is a very simple process and one that he and all coaches should be preaching to the players and other coaches each and every day. One of these days the MADD people are going to jump his ass and then he will know exactly what hell feels like.

All high profile players and first stringers believe they are above the school/ream laws in that they expect nothing more than a slap on the wrist if/when they are caught in a small time crime. if these guys want to smoke and snort in the privacy of ones home/dorm then I dont care one iota at all. But, when they get behind the wheel of a 2-ton vehicle then that is when they endanger me. Lord help them if they were to ever hit me or my wife/daughters. They better pray to their God that the police get them before I do.

Clemonites, the arguement is not what the punishment is but rather the fact that Dildo wants to play Barney Fife first with his fact gathering over 4 months. Again, it is very simple, let the players know now that they will be suspended until the fatcs come in. this will curtail most of their bad habits but not all will pay attention.

When a player gets busted by the cops does the team test the kid right away?

Are these counted as failed drug test of players or just minor misdemeanors of the law for the players.

Any kid busted by the cops for drugs should have to take a teams drug test right away.

Do you really think they have real drug tests up there? It's amazing how many Clemson football angels get busted for drugs after moving on to the NFL.
