New Kickoff ruled approved

Interesting development on KOs. Throws a wrench in the strategy of "we have really good kick coverage, so we're gonna kick just short of the goal line and pin them inside the 20."

I'm good with the downfield blocking rule. Knee injuries are darn-near epidemic anymore, and if that can eliminate some of them, I'm for it.

I hate the ‘blocking below the waist’ rule. The intention to prevent some knee injuries is noble. However, I would have to see some convincing data before I would believe those blocks are the cause of serious knee injuries.

If I were King of the World, ... and was forced to consider the well being, safety and reduction of injuries to the players ... I think it would be worthwhile to consider removing the kickoff tee from the game, as PART of the solution to the current problem. No holders either ... just put the damn football on the ground, both points facing the sidelines, and kick off.

If it saves a kid from season or career ending injury, I'm all for it.
