Quick FB Team Note

We're getting some sources that are indicating a "bug" of some sort might be affecting several members of the FB team this week. Shane Beamer mentioned Cam Smith Saturday as someone who wasn't feeling well and B.J. Gibson yesterday. We don't have specifics on how widespread it might be, and today Beamer said specifically "We don't have any kind of outbreak, but we have guys that probably aren't 100 percent." We just wanted to make sure our subscribers were in the loop so you aren't totally caught off guard if this affects the roster heading into the game this weekend. As always, we will keep you posted on any updates, perhaps during Carolina Calls tomorrow, or other "whispers from the trees" we might hear.

Walking On Senior Day

Cam Smith mentioned earlier that he's most likely headed to the NFL draft following this season, but I wanted to give you a full list of folks walking on Senior Day this weekend. It gets a little complicated because of extra COVID eligibility, but here's the breakdown from the Game Notes this week.

SUPER SENIORS: The Gamecocks list nine players (not including transfers) whose eligibility would have expired had not the NCAA allowed the 2020 season to be a “free” year. Those “super seniors” are WR Jalen Brooks, OL Eric Douglas, LB Sherrod Greene, LB Brad Johnson, EDGE Jordan Strachan, WR Chad Terrell, WR Josh Vann, DL M.J. Webb and OL Dylan Wonnum.

ONE FOR THE THUMB: With the NCAA COVID rule allowing for an extra year, four Gamecocks - OL Eric Douglas, LB Brad Johnson, WR Josh Vann, and OL Dylan Wonnum - will become five-year letterwinners.

With all that being said, these are the twenty players expected to take part in Senior Day ceremonies this week:

SENIOR SALUTE: Twenty players are expected to take part in Senior Day ceremonies this week including Nate Adkins, Matt Bailey, Christian Beal-Smith, Jalen Brooks, Wyatt Campbell, Eric Douglas, Sherrod Greene, Jovaughn Gwyn, Brad Johnson, Dakereon Joyner, Hank Manos, Zacch Pickens, Devonni Reed, Darius Rush, Rick Sandidge, Austin Stogner, Chad Terrell, Josh Vann, M.J. Webb, and Dylan Wonnum.

There are some additional folks whose eligibility will allow them to declare for the NFL draft after the season, though they still have a little eligibility left, like the aforementioned Cam Smith. I would think QB Spencer Rattler and EDGE Jordan Burch, among others, will also be thinking about making the jump. We will have updates on their status as we reach the conclusion of the season.

Satterfield

Has he been fired yet? This same crap happened last year and he was on the hot seat. But then we go and win the Mayo Bowl and all is forgotten, problem solved. Well the problem is still here and if CEO Beamer don't address it then he will be another WM. You can talk about Dabo all you want but he hired and fired coaches until he found what worked. You can't have buddys in college football, it is a money making business and if Beamer don't realize that he won't be here long. Satterfield ain't the only coach that needs attention. Can someone tell me where Lavossa Carroll is that transfered from UGA last year, a 4 star rb out of HS that signed with UGA and was moved to db and then transfered here as a rb. We only took Bell and JuJu to UF so why didn't we take Amos and Carroll? We also have several other players on the bench that should get a look. And put Rattlers ass on the bench at least try something else along with Joyner. We have 2 games left and don't have a chance to win either one without making changes, mostly the play caller on offense. I"ve been watching this same shit for 62 years and damn tired of being embarrassed all these years.

Judea Watkins Commits to the wrong USC

We told readers week ago not to hold their breath here. Watkins has already signed an NIL deal with Nike and we didn't see here coming to a UA school. She does share an agent with Aliyah Boston so that was a glimmer of hope. Watkins is likely going to do quite well NIL wise in college in the nation's 2nd largest market. We previously felt Stanford was going to be the choice. All things considered, Gamecock fans would rather have her in Los Angeles than Palo Alto.

South Carolina's 2023 class will stand at 4 and is considered a consensus top 7 class.

F- Chloe Kitts
G- Tessa Johndon
Wing/Forward- Sahnya Jah

In addition to Watkins, Carolina missed out on Cassandre Prosper (Notre Dame) and Aalyah Del Rosario (LSU).

Big time prospect, #2 in the 2024 HoopGurlz rankings, Joyce Edwards is out of Camden and will be the top target in the next cycle.
