Kiki Iriafen?

There are some whispers about her joining the Gamecocks for her final year of eligibility. She’s in the portal after graduating from Stanford. Perhaps she might look to Dawn to get her WNBA- ready. She’s great offensively but needs a lot of work on her defensive game. Dawn put out a cryptic emoji message — perhaps making fans aware something is in the works(?). I hope she come here.

Gamecocks Make Big Jump in Latest Top 25 Poll

9 SEC Teams in the Top 25. Carolina is 5th highest ranked team at 15. A&M, Arkansas, and Tenn are 1-3 and UK fell back to 8.
7 teams from the Carolinas are ranked. Coastal fell out after an 0-5 week. Clemson is 4, ECU is 5, Duke is 10, UNC is 12, Wake is 13, and NC State is 20.

SC still has weekend series at home against #19 UGA and @ #3 Tenn. Carolina has 11 games left overall. East Tenn State and @ Winthrop in the midweek and a series @ Missouri this weekend.

If the Gamecocks finish 6-5 or better, they are probably a lock to host a regional.

Baseball vs. Kentucky Live Thread (Game Three)

Well, here we go.

Game one, South Carolina hit three home runs in the bottom of the 9th to force extras, then won on a walk-off homer in the 10th.

Game two, South Carolina blew a 6-1 lead, fell behind 12-6, came all the way back to get within one run, but eventually fell 15-13.

Game three of this absolutely critical series for South Carolina's regional hosting hopes? Who the heck knows. Here's how Mark Kingston lines his team up for the biggest game of the season so far:

Austin Brinling - CF
Ethan Petry - RF
Parker Noland - 2B
Cole Messina - C
Blake Jackson - RF
Kennedy Jones - LF
Dalton Reeves - DH
Talmadge LeCroy - SS
Gavin Casas - 3B

Dylan Eskew - Pitcher

Baseball vs. Kentucky Live Thread (Game Two)

Back at Founders Park, where South Carolina baseball will go for the series win against Kentucky tonight and somehow try to put on an encore from last night's thriller. If you missed it, the Gamecocks tied the game with three home runs in the bottom of the 9th, then won it in extra innings with a Blake Jackson walk-off home run.

Gavin Casas and Dalton Reeves hit two of those home runs in the 9th as pinch hitters yesterday, and both are back in the lineup today. Casas is playing third base, and Talmadge LeCroy is starting at shortstop. That alignment worked in extra innings last night, but I'm interested to see how that goes for a full game today. Here's Mark Kingston's full lineup:

Austin Brinling - CF
Ethan Petry - 1B
Parker Noland - 2B
Cole Messina - C
Blake Jackson - RF
Kennedy Jones - LF
Gavin Casas - 3B
Talmadge LeCroy - SS
Dalton Reeves - DH

Eli Jones - Pitcher

Baseball vs. Kentucky Live Thread (Game One)

Hello from Founders Park, where it is overcast, breezy and almost impossibly cool for the last week of April in Columbia. Not complaining at all, though.

No. 4 Kentucky is in town for a three-game series starting tonight, and it's a series the Gamecocks really, really, really could do with winning for their regional-hosting hopes. It's not technically a must-win, but the math gets real thin without at least two wins this series.

Here's how the Gamecocks line up in game one with Roman Kimball back on the mound, Dylan Brewer moving back into the lineup and Gavin Casas getting the night off. Ethan Petry slides to first base to take his spot, and Blake Jackson starts in right after six straight games on the bench.

Austin Brinling - LF
Ethan Petry - 1B
Cole Messina - C
Parker Noland - 2B
Kennedy Jones - DH
Blake Jackson - RF
Talmadge LeCroy - 3B
Dylan Brewer - CF
Lee Ellis - SS

Roman Kimball - Pitcher

Colton Jr. commitment quote: "I'm committed. The future (defensive backs' coach Torrian Gray) is building (at the position) is amazing, the nickel formation that they have is legit.
