Zy’Marion Lang Commitment Today

4-star ATH Zy’Marion Lang should make his commitment decision around 5 pm EST this evening. He’s choosing between a final 4 of South Carolina, USF, Kansas State, and Pitt.

I’ve had a futurecast in for SC for a couple of months now and haven’t heard anything to make me adjust it, though he has visited K-State and USF in the last few weeks.

Tommy Chaikin

Seeing the passing of Joe Lee Dunn, I started reading about some of the old Morrison Day as Dunn was one of the guys Joe played racquet ball with the day he died. Of course it’s hard to read about Morrison without reading about the Steroid Scandal.

My question is, what are the fans thoughts on former DL Tommy Chaikin who is responsible for going to Sports Illustrated and contributing to the article being written. I know he accused many, Including Todd Ellis, of asking for steroids. Ellis seemed frustrated with Chaikin, saying the team felt betrayed by him as he should’ve come to the team if he had issues rather than going to the media. Of course all deny Chaikin’s accusations.

It’s crazy reading about him having the barrel of a gun on his chin in The Roost the night before the 1987 Clemson - Carolina game. He eventually let his dad come get him and he missed the game as they flew to Washington DC to get him some help. He said former teammates have reached out from time to time, even inviting him to come to a game at Williams-Brice…but at the time (around 2005) he wasn’t sure what the fan response would be.

I do wonder what the response would be…

Netflix's Quarterback

I love starting the football season with a good doc football doc. Last Chance U use to hit the spot and this season Netflix's Quarterback is excellent. I'm half way through the show. Impressions:

Mahomes is likable and pretty down to earth for a superstar.

The entire Cousins family is great. Kirk is a huge nerd and his wife Julie is a sweetheart. I'm guessing Kirk gained some fans this offseason.

Mariotta is a little more reserved but he's in a tougher place in his career right now than the other two.

My question is - if they did a college version of Quarterback - who would you want to see featured.

I'd go Rattler, Maye, and a super vet like Hartman at Notre Dame or Nix at Oregon.

Other teams you pull for?

What other teams do you pull for outside of the Gamecocks and why?

I enjoy program turn arounds and it just so happens the Gamecocks fall in that category since Shane Beamer took over. I also follow Illinois (Bret Bielema) and Akron (Joe Moorhead) closely. Bielema took charge at Illinois the same year Beamer came to Carolina. Last year was Moorhead’s first at Akron and the Zips easily had one of the worst rosters in the FBS before Moorhead’s arrival.

Other schools I’m paying attention to are UMASS (Don Brown), Colorado State (Jay Norvell), New Mexico State (Jerry Kill), and Colorado (Deion Sanders).
