OT: Mac Virus portector

I am using my late husband's desktop Mac and gradually getting through products and services for which he had subscriptions. I got a renewal alert from AVAST which is the virus protector. I have no idea if it is the best. I have a laptop where I use MacKeeper. I know there are prob new products on the market. Before I renew the Avast prescription, can someone provide their experience.

thanks

Not sports related: Colorado bound

So tomorrow morning my wife and daughter fly out to Denver. It will be their first time visiting there. My wife made the mistake of reading about altitude sickness in the town (evergreen) they are staying in. I believe its roughly 7000ft ASL. She is now getting anxious because the article mentioned visitors having difficulty breathing. I told her at 40 yrs old she should be fine, but its already in her mind. I'm sure many in here have visited Colorado, an was wonder if you had any issues or tips for it. Thanks

@bloody spur wins another local contest

@bloody spur & @Rock Hill Cock were having a discussion w/ a local female in their age group. The 3 were comparing which had endured the most painful incident. RHC offered having to pass a kidney stone during a desert retreat w/ only 1 bottle of water left to drink.
The woman said that was nothing. She had endured natural childbirth of twins in the backseat of a NY cab in a January blizzard w/ no medical assistance.
Bloody responded that the second most painful experience of his life outstripped their mere discomfort. He was hiking through the snow through the remnants of an avalanche that had separated him from his ski cabin when he had to relieve himself. He squatted down in the deep snow. A bear trap snapped shut on his testicles.
The others agreed that bloody’s pain was indeed the worst. RHC then noted “you said that was the second worst pain you endured. What could have been worse than that?”
Bloody replied “just after that when I hit the end of that anchoring chain!”😵😂😂😂

WBB: USA advances to Semis

USA used a 17-0 first half run to take control of the game and cruised to a 79-55 win over Australia. The vets played better, helping the Americans get off to a fast start for the first time in the Olympics. A'ja Wilson only played 16 minutes because of the blowout, and finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Breanna Stewart and Chelsea Gray did most of the damage: Stewart had 23 points and Gray had 7 points and 8 assists.

USA plays Serbia Friday morning at the usual 12:40 time, but it looks like the game will be on NBC. Win and they play for gold Saturday night, lose and they play for bronze Saturday morning.

Questions for the board. Give me your thoughts on my post.

Think back to Lou Holtz's first season in 1999, which what we all want to forget, was 0 - 11. Not only was the win-loss record the worse possible, we only played one game that was close. And that was to Vandy, who beat us 11-10 on our home field. Ouch! We have just hit rock bottom. If you were a fan then, you probably wondered how can we play so badly considering that we had a hall of fame coach.
So, please don't get overly optimistic about Beamer's 1st season. The prognosticators are usually right or very close with their predictions.

Lou Holtz in his 2nd season. USC goes 7-4 and beats OSU in the Outback bowl. How many of you had no faith in Lou's 2nd season?

So, what should we have learned from Lou Holtz's first 2 seasons? I want your thoughts and how you would apply your thoughts to Beamer in his 1st season and 2nd season.

What Woodrow has learned: The first season for a new coach for a broken program can be very difficult because of many reasons. I was pretty miserable with Lou's first season and had doubts for the seasons beyond that and believed that we would never have a good season or team. The second season was exactly the opposite for a new coach. I was pretty much blown away particularly the fact that we ended that season by beating the mighty buckeyes in the Outback Bowl.

Concerning Beamer, I think he will finish at 4 wins and 5 wins if we have some luck. I will not be disappointed should we win just 3 or 4 games. He has a steep hill to climb with too many glaring roster weaknesses. For Beamer's 2nd season, I'm expecting a little better win total. Most of the needs will be filled after 2021, but we will have to rely on freshman for 2022. That doesn't disappoint me because of the recruits that we are getting commitments from and the whole body of work that Beamer and his staff have done in such a short time. The foundation has been laid. The future looks bright.

Blowing Up college Football and Starting Over

With the move of UT and OK to the SEC and all of the expansion talk that is going on, myself and some buddies were discussing the other day. What if we blew up college football and started all over. What I mean is lets break apart all conferences, put all 130 teams in the pool. Get some really smart people that know college football and have a 4 conference (that looks like where we are going as far as major conferences) snake draft. Each 'conference commissioner' would try to build the best conference for the long term. This is for FOOTBALL only. Below is my first attempt if i was doing the draft. There would be 16 teams per conference. (I know that is only 64 teams , the remaining teams could go into 4 lesser conferences) The conferences are not really SEC, ACC, etc per se. Just 4 conferences. The draft is a snake draft ( the 4th conference to pick would get the 4th and 5th pick and the conference that picked first would get the 8th and 9th and so forth) . Here goes some of the criteria that I thought about but not necessarily all in this order and not necessarily applied evenly. Recent success (Last ten or so years) , Wall street journal team value (2nd tabsheet - one of the main reasons some of the schools are as high as they are) (thanks to @uscnick that posted this the other day) , Fan support (3rd tabsheet - 5 year avg along with % filled), perceived TV market, recruiting footprint, current coaching situation .... among others. I tried to be unbias as possiblr but of course it does come down to personal bias. (yes I did select Clemson ahead of Carolina if I were picking today. NOO i am not a tater). If I came down to multiple teams I was looking to put in one spot i would check to see if there was a natural rivalry already in that conference and try to include one with the rivalry. At the same time, I tried to include teams from different regions of the country in each conference to give a wide balance to each conference. I will say this. If I did this exercise 10 times I don't think any of the 10 would be the same even through the top 20. Even after looking at it now there are probably some things I would change. So here goes. Any thoughts.
