The First 'World Championship' Boxing Match was a bare knuckle, brutal affair,

lasting nearly 2 1/2 hours and stretching over 42 rounds. The contenders were 25 year old, John Carmel Heenan, the 6' 2", 195 lbs, all-American Champion, and England's "Titch" Sayers, 34, who stood 5' 8" at 149 lbs.

Bare Knuckle Boxing was illegal on April 17, 1860 and at the start of the 43rd Round, local police stormed the ring, putting an end to the proceedings, with both pugilists fleeing to escape arrest.

The fight was declared a draw and each man was paid 200 pounds.

Neither man ever fought again and both men died while still in their 30's.

DT Jordan Thomas, who visited this past weekend and spent Friday with Nyckoles Harbor and Dylan Stewart, has set several official visits for the summer, including a June 23rd trip back to Columbia, currently his final of the summer, and a weekend that is ramping up to be a major one for the 2024 class.

Thomas also set up summer OVs with Rutgers (June 2nd), Georgia (June 9th), and Michigan (June 16th).

Baseball vs. Vanderbilt LIve Thread (Rubber Game)

Checking in for game three of the series in Nashville, the decider. South Carolina won 14-6 on Friday, but lost 8-5 yesterday. One of these teams will lose their first series of the season today.

Matthew Becker is the starter for South Carolina after Mark Kingston went with "TBA" all week. Becker started the midweek on Tuesday against USC Upstate, but only went two innings and was under 30 pitches. I would expect him to maybe go 3-4 innings, with a Johnny Whole Staf approach to cover the rest of the day. Might be able to see some more Eli Jones after he only went two innings on Friday, maybe Cade Austin for a couple innings.

Here is the lineup:

Dylan Brewer - LF
Braylen Wimmer - SS
Ethan Petry - RF
Cole Messina - C
Gavin Casas - 1B
Talmadge LeCroy - 3B
Carson Hornung - DH
Michael Braswell - 2B
Evan Stone - CF

Matthew Becker - P

Interesting FB Visitor On Campus This Weekend

I'm going to put out the full visitor's list for this weekend in a couple of hours, but one we found out about last night is pretty intriguing and I wanted to share.

We've gotten word that Nyckoles Harbor is spending time with 4-Star EDGE Dylan Stewart, also from the same area as Harbor, which we already were anticipating, but we've also gotten word that a big-time 4-star DT is spending time with Harbor as well, Jordan Thomas out of NJ, a state Pete Lembo has recruiting coverage on in the northeast. At 6'6" and nearly 300 lbs already, Thomas has offers from nearly every major program in the country, and getting him down for big Gamecock weekend is certainly a big step in putting the Gamecocks squarely in the mix.
