Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host
@Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. Remember the old days on the playground where the larger kids would torture the younger smaller kids by using their weight to keep them airborne and flailing hopeless and that their mercy? That is the season we are experiencing in Atlanta. The bully keeping them flailing is their own demons. Every time they get close to overcoming the glass ceiling of a winning record the playground scenario emerges and they are left flailing about helplessly seeking stability. It is now time to break that seesaw mold it into extra seating on the train 🚂 that is gaining steam and preparing to roll over everything in its path.
Game two of the 3 game road trip begins at 8:15 tonight as it will again be a battle of left hand pitchers. The Braves will throw Drew Smyly against J A Happ. Looking at the box scores of each lineup against the pitchers would lead you to believe this will be a low scoring affair as neither team has hit very well against these pitchers. If Happ uses the blueprint that Lester had after the second inning it may be a long night for the Braves because some of the later plate appearances showed no growth or knowledge of how to use the entire field when hitting. You cannot make a living trying to pull ground ball pitchers and hitting ground balls to shortstop and third base. You are not going to get many past Arenado or Sosa. I would love to see more ABC baseball from our lineup utilizing all parts of the field of play. I detest watching softball defenses and players unable to offset these confounded alignments. I am also counting on Smyly to continue his newfound ability to throw strikes and keep the ball in the field of play I.e. no gopher balls 😎😎. It will also be nice if he doesn’t elevate his pitch count because he has only been good for around 85 pitches before he is ineffective. We do have a well rested bullpen as they are always needed when he starts a game.
