It Doesn't Matter whether you want to fire Frank or not...

It's much more likely that Coach Martin departs of his own volition, than that he is fired. I read today that he was contacted by UNLV (which is a superior program to SC), but money was an issue.

My questions for the Coach Martin is getting it done crowd...

It's not going to happen, but if South Carolina chose to fire Frank Martin, who, on a national level, is thought of as doing an outstanding job with the Gamecocks, they would not be able to hire anyone of any significant pedigree. They'd have to take a flyer on a young, unproven coach...

My questions for the Coach Martin is getting it done crowd...

Given the history of the South Carolina program, I personally don't think making the tournament every year is a reasonable expectation at this time. In the last 44 years, they have gone to the tournament only five times, and Coach Martin has the only NCAA tournaments wins in that timespan.

My questions for the Coach Martin is getting it done crowd...

We all have different opinions on what qualifies as "good". The Gamecocks struggled early, but really improved, to the point that I think they had a good year. They fell short of what they could have been due to a couple of early losses. The team showed a lot of character and development...

My questions for the Coach Martin is getting it done crowd...

The results do matter. The results are good. The Gamecocks had a good year, in terms of wins and losses, this year. That's why he has the job and will keep it going forward.

Do y'all still want to get rid of Frank?

Frank Martin will be at South Carolina for a while, as long as he doesn't get a nice offer from a better program. People should realize the good coach they have and cheer up.

    NIT and USC

Indeed, they have a greater chance of making the NCAA tournament than the NIT, in my opinion.

    NIT and USC

I don't think South Carolina will be going to the NIT, even if they win every game except for the SEC Final.

    SEC Tournament

With their win last night, the Gamecocks put themselves in strong position for the #4 seed, and a double bye in the SEC tournament. They would clinch the #4 seed with a win Saturday against Georgia. They can also clinch if both Auburn and Florida lose one of their last games. (Auburn hosts...

FM back on the warm seat?

Frank Martin is the most second-most accomplished basketball coach in South Carolina history.

FM back on the warm seat?

Not even close. His job is very secure.

What is the underlying reason South Carolina hasn't

Clemson hit a grand slam home run with the Swinney hire. South Carolina hasn't hit jackpot on a hire like that.

Way too early NCAA Tournament talk

Oklahoma St. has played perhaps the toughest schedule in the country....they are better than an 8-10 team. They beat LSU earlier this season. In fact, I believe they were favorites over South Carolina...that should tell you that it wasn't a bad loss. You can just say "you can't lose to...

Way too early NCAA Tournament talk

The only actually bad loss the team has is to Wyoming. Oklahoma St., Stony Brook, and Wofford are all good basketball teams. That said, an NCAA tournament berth is very far-fetched. If they win one of these two road games against Kentucky or Tennessee, maybe we can start thinking about...

So I'm sorta glad ZW didn't come here.

Also, college isn't the only way to get educated. Lebron James is one of the most intelligent, and successful men outside of basketball in NBA history, and didn't attend one second of college. "Going pro" does not mean not valuing education. If you reject your dream job just because of an...

So I'm sorta glad ZW didn't come here.

You have just said there are reasons you think are good for leaving college without getting a degree. What makes those reasons better than other people's reasons? Just your personal opinion. This has nothing to do with sports, by the way. Sports just happens to be one of the reasons you don't...

So I'm sorta glad ZW didn't come here.

Even if you break your leg? Even if your mother dies the day before? Even if the coach decides you didn't practice well enough that week? Even if the game matchup makes that player's participation undesirable? What about a kicker, whose team doesn't score? He has to play as a linebacker for...

So I'm sorta glad ZW didn't come here.

You think all students should be required to go to college for 4 years? That is patently ridiculous. What if circumstances in their life change that make college impractical? Are you telling me if you got a job offer after a third year of college, that was the job you've always wanted, with...

Not sure why you keep saying "we". You should say "I" don't take them seriously, because it looks like you are alone on this one.

So I'm sorta glad ZW didn't come here.

Who doesn't take them seriously? You don't? Why not? They are the best college basketball programs in the country. It's more likely their fans don't take our program seriously.
