    Oregon has agreed to play in the Holiday Bowl and evidently a ND-Oregon matchup is more appealing to ND. Craziness. If ND goes to Holiday Bowl, it looks like UNC goes to Gator and they don’t want us against UNC since we played them in the Mayo bowl and open with them next year. So we head to Tampa

    Last minute politicking. The SEC is unbelievable. The Holiday bowl and Gator Bowl fighting over who gets Notre Dame. That impacts where we go. If ND to Gator, we hopefully go to the Gator. If ND not in the Gator, it appears who go to Tampa to play Illinois.

    Herman is a good coach but has too much Urban Meyer syndrome going for my taste. However don’t underestimate him. Like Meyer, he will whatever he has to do to win.

    The knock on him is inability to read defense and bailing on plays when there is no or little pressure. The inability to read D reared its head at Clemson but he overcame it. He’s done a better job of not bailing on plays in the last 2 games. He does have good people around him advising...

    there was no mystery play caller. Beamer made the offensive staff narrow the playbook and limit the personnel groupings. The play calling was more a group input but Satt had final say. The thing that made a difference is simplifying the playbook and keep our good players on the field.

    Beamer definitely deserves a raise as do several of the assistants. I am more worried about Tanner being a cheapskate than over paying. I think Tanner has learned his lesson on the buyout. But we will see.

    It won’t be from within. Beamer has evidently asked that he be allowed to pay what is necessary to bring in a top talent as part of his extension (more on that later). He was told to get the best he can get. Beamer has his sites set on someone really good.
