10 Things You Should Know About Jon Hoke

God I hope he is the answer. I'm skeptical but I will fall in line and pull for this guy. Welcome coach Hoke.

I am glad we got him here, but it looks like we are already setting the guy up for failure by not allowing him to bring any assistants. It's pretty asinine the way were are going about this. Hopefully after a year we can get rid of some dead weight and a we can bring in some more competent defensive coaches.

I refuse to believe that we're hiring Hoke and calling it a day. I am confident that we'll make much-needed staff upgrades to coach Defensive Line and Linebackers.

As I said yesterday, hiring Jon Hoke and then asking him to work with Deke, Botkin, and Whammy as his position coaches is akin to hiring a world renowned chef and sticking him in a McDonald's kitchen with a couple of teenagers to assist him.

Hoke being the only move simply can't be an option. I'm confident Steve Spurrier is going to make the best move for the football program, which is to allow Hoke to bring in some additional coaches.

I think it's imperative that we get a veteran D-Line coach. Deke is a nice guy and a good recruiter, but his abysmal results in 2 years coaching the D-Line speak for themselves. He's a young coach that could perhaps be good in time, but it would be great to have a veteran coaching presence coach the D-Line and take Deke under his wing.

Hoke was supposedly offered the DC position at Denver but chose USC because it is probably a better deal for him. Since he was fired at Chicago he is probably entitled to some compensation. If he had gone to Denver compensation may have been reduced or lost. I am not concerned with the other coaches we have. The DC designs the defense and the other coaches have film sesions with the position players, show them how the schemes are supposed to work, oversee practices, and teach techniques. I am confident that most of them are capable of doing this. My one concern is special teams which were terrible. The ST coach, however, would be the one I would reassign to Admin Duties. Don't know what Hoke's official title and duties will be, but if the ST coach goes admin, someone will have to take care of these duties. If we had had good ST play we would probably have won at least a couple of more games.

Now that's funny stuff right there.

It is, because Jon Hoke is not a world-reknowned defensive coordinator. Besides, he is not the Man on D. he shares the title with Ward, who does not answer to him. Why would he bring HIS people in when he is a co-DC?

Go to any Gator board and read what they think of Hoke. You will find that what they think of him is exactly what you guys think of Ward. It wasn't true of Hoke, and it isn't true of Ward, either.
