2 Gamecocks get a bump to 4 star on ESPN

This is just my opinion but Davis will be a bust. I really don’t get the hype. He has an odd throwing release.
Could be, but he also has a lot going for him. The throwing release doesn't bother most anymore, in the past I think we messed QBs up when we tried to change it.

But at 6'5 with a good frame, NFL bloodlines, ran a 4.5 in camp and reports are he picks up X&Os really well, I think he has a pretty good chance of being a solid QB.

Absolutely! He is the same player he is in June as he was in November whether they call him a 3* or a 5*. His skill level does not change because some recruiting service changes their rating.

The reality is, when it comes to recruiting, there's a huge perception issue. Even though coaches don't rely on star ratings, it helps on a lot of fronts to show a decent number of 4* in your class. It helps get fans energized, it generates more publicity, it gets the attention of other recruits.

Okay, then do you feel better about the guys who got bumped since you've, if I'm not mistaken, raised concerns over how few 4 stars we've had?

Exactly. The question is who do we trust with the evaluation? Our coaches, a recruiting site or random posters who act like they know more than the coaches. Until proven otherwise I’m going with our coaches.

No, you're mistaken. I believe that was GarnerBeamer that has been obsessed with 4*s. I don't much believe in the star stuff. I just want good ball players who will win games. We have to rely on the coaches to make good evaluations and get guys that help us win. I don't know how good or how bad these guys will end up and neither does any other poster who is foaming at the mouth over how great recruiting is going, or the ones who say it is bad because it's a bunch of 3*s. We will find out when they suit up.

You have no idea how accurate the offer lists are and which “offers” are actually committable.

I said consensus, not average. An outlier can ruin an average.
You are a complete joke and clearly not a Gamecock fan. J O K E

Yeah, if release is his biggest issue, I can live with that. All I care about is where the ball ends up. We have a small game sample size to work on at this point, but his camp reviews have all been good so far. Will look forward to see how he fares this coming season.
