2 million NIL deal

NIL will dramatically change college athletics.

If our wealthy alumni have not already started working with the AD and coaching staffs then we are way behind.

Personally, I would start with basketball, where 2-3 players can change a team immediately.

As for football, this opens the door for us to legally pay players. A 4 star may mean more to us than Bama, and we may offer more, so with a well run recruiting fund, we could make some progress. Our fans spend a good bit of money on shirts and other paraphernalia... So that may help as well.

Hopefully, someone over at the business school has figured it out and the ball is rolling. If not, we are even more screwed than usual.

I have no idea what this will do to the total number of college fans in the country. Probably won't be a good thing with millennials or gen z.

Right it’s a symbiotic relationship now where both player and school can benefit. It use to be almost slave labor “kavanaugh words not mine” where only one entity profited while the other was restrained and held back. This is the way it should have been since day 1. You forget the Supreme Court UNANIMOUSLY decided that this business model was against major USA laws.
annnnnd there we have it.
I don't care what the Supreme Court ruled...it is this B#tch mentality that keeps spreading broader across our once hard-working nation that is ruining it. So, that's what you agree with, huh?

You are skipping over the whole concept that full scholarships they're handing out to 85 kids that are valued at much more than most of these kids will ever get from a no-name underwear company. Getting a broader view of life and getting an education is secondary to this generation.

I've got a new business model I'm going to tell try on my employer...."hey...I know you give me benefits and a salary and all....but uh...yeah, yeah, yeahhhh...I think I want an additional stipend/salary type thing...yeahhh...that makes a lot of sense to me."

So, the players didn't start the business, and are only there for 3-4 years, and it was running for 75 years before they showed up, and usually 35k-100k people regularly showed up EVERY week to watch a different group no matter who was playing....but they feel ENTITLED to some compensation because they want it? I think this will go over well since the supreme court is on board with it. Wonder which fortune 500 company I need to go after.....?

In the market, you're worth what you can get, not what some uninvolved 3rd party thinks you deserve.

And there we have it with your idiotic archaic thinking. Your just wrong here. No one is arguing that the scholarship is not worth something, of course it is. What you fail to realize is the ncaa is restricting what a person can make and that sir is illegal. This is not an argument over self entitlement. This is about right from wrong and following what we believe to be right in this country. You can get political all you want but saying screw what the Supreme Court upholds is a very slippery slop. Any one reading your post can see how ridiculous you sound.

You also seem to set a bar of what these players are worth. I hate to tell you but you don’t get to set that bar. They deserve what they are worth and that is what people are will to pay. Not some idiot behind a key board kicking and screaming because an 18 year old kid can make money off his name. I’m sure you wouldn’t fill the same if you were put in their shoes.

I also hate to inform you but a college degree does not hold the credit it once did news flash. Why because more people have them now. Plenty of college grads graduate and can’t find a job in their field only to do something different in life.

Wait a minute, I thought the amount of money is going severely alter the college landscape? You can't say the scholarship is so much more than the pennies they will be getting on the side and then also argue its enough money to change what the current status quo is.

I'm not against adults making money...BUT if they're ready for a job like an adult has....hopefully a NFL 'D' league will be created, and they can prove that 1) they're worth whatever draw/money they think they're worth on their own and 2)they will be in an unlimited, free market place with the sky as the limit with absolutely no backing from a university, or affiliation with college athletics.

Why would they need some silly Collegiate Football program? They're the draw, right?

Also...without the university football team, there are no athletes. I'm not sure you are capable of understanding this from more than one perspective....but every year they keep showing up....even while unpaid. Also - how can college football be fine...you said you had zero evidence?
What the NFL may or may not do has nothing to do with what the NCAA has been doing for so long, i.e. keeping college athletes from making money off themselves.

What incentive does the NFL have to suddenly create a D league now? College is and has been a FREE farm system for them. By keeping kids from signing with them until they're 3 years removed from HS, this forces these kids to go to college to play where-- until now -- the NCAA has kept them from making ANY money for themselves while they rake in millions.

So please explain how these kids are supposed to prove what they are worth in some developmental system that doesn't even exist as opposed to making a little money on their own under the new guidelines -- that will be an actual free market?

It was unanimous feel free to look up the vote make up if you wish.
I read the decision. Couldn't care less about the vote. The decision was narrower than what states are allowing to occur....and the Supreme Court did not address any ancillary issues/repercussions because those issues weren't in front of them.

We can agree to disagree I as well read the decision and non of the words I read lead me to the conclusion that it was close.

Frankly, your social commentary is meaningless. Please tell me why it would be ok for your employer to tell you that you cannot make money on the side through your name, image, and likeness.
