Kacinas. Clear push in the back. We had our chances and played tight at the end. That was a tough L to swallow
I looked at the video clip a dozen times of the intentional free throw miss at the end if the game by Thornwell.
1) It appears that Thornwell was supposed to try and miss so that the rebound came off the rim to the left of the basket.
2) Carrera made a brilliant move on Portis, and had inside position! On the left side. Go back and watch it.
3) Our guard (#1) had set a pick for Notice (#10) to the left. I assume we were hoping for a rebound to the left side so that Carrera could try a put back or kick it out to Notice for a game winning 3. We had nothing left for an overtime.
The carom of the ball was a good one; it just went right instead of left.
Question:
4) Was Kachinas in the wrong position? He was too far under the basket to reach the longer rebound off the rim or was Kacinas in the right position?
5) Did he mis-time his jump or jump the wrong angle?
6) Did Qualles push him in the back so that the ball bounced over and out of his reach?
7) Was kachinas in the right position, and the long rebound just a bad break?
This is team is so close to being good. With a little more depth, and 1 or 2 better shooters, this could be a dangerous team. if Martin allows the 2 he suspended to play in the tournament, we could be the team seeded in the lower half that none of the teams seeded in the top half wants to play.
