Country was united for a period of time after that. It was comforting to see us as a country do that during a difficult situation.
I pray for leadership to direct us back to that direction soon.

Unfortunately I think its impossible to unite the country outside of being collectively attacked, or threatened, by an outside force. And that's not just today - that's since the beginning. Even Washington benefitted by coming off the Revolution.

And I say unfortunate, but it also makes sense. When all is well, then you have the luxury of arguing and fighting over the minutiae. In the end everyone wants the same, basic things. And when that is threatened - the country comes together to make sure that we can keep the foundation that those things are built on.

What Desantis has done in Florida is impressive. I travel there a good bit for work and have never seen so many people uniting around a single politican. When he arrived, Florida was close to a 50/50 state. Now if you look at the polls which are based on betting (by far the most accurate), Florida is well over 80% Republican. He has been nothing short of outstanding. Congress and K-Street are still cancerous, but it's encouraging to see someone who looks and acts like a true leader. Whether Rep or Dem, we need many more with his skill set.

Senator Tim Scott is a true leader IMO. He seems to be able to work with others who may have a different point of view and work out a deal.
That is what seperates great leaders from the others who can't see past a certain view point that only benefits them.

There are certainly great leaders out there, but I almost think that if everyone is on the same page it might mean we (collectively as a people) are close to being enslaved collectively. It’s one thing to hunker down to defend the country from attack, it’s another to have the country working toward one goal based upon a single leader - see China, Russia, Iran, germany, etc about that.

That said, if there is a leader out there that can appeal to the middle - and the middle can give the eye-roll to the extremes, then I’m all in. there is real value in having diametrically opposed opinions being heard, but not value in the extreme opinions dominating the conversation and decision making process. Extreme right or left means disaster.

Biden and this administration is owned by China. So this bunch has to go!!

The lifecycle of a nation:
From bondage to spiritual faith,
From spiritual faith to great courage,
From courage to liberty,
From liberty to abundance,
From abundance to selfishness,
From selfishness to complacency,
From complacency to apathy,
From apathy to dependency,
From dependency back again into bondage.

Where are we as a nation? Our government wants us to be totally dependent on it. The cycle may be about complete.

“The average lifespan of a nation is 250 years. Then there is societal collapse.” The National Desk
America is 246 years old.
Just saying.

I've seen this meme. Societal collapse? What does that even mean? The US is one of the youngest countries in the world - I guess all the older ones have a collapsed society now?

Didn't want to delete it because it started with a nice sentiment.

Locked because folks have to turn even a memorial thread into political mudslinging.
