James Thompson is getting his chance in practice this week to show he’s ready to reclaim his starting right guard position. Last night, I hear the defensive line got the better of the offensive line overall.
Jason Barnes and Mark Barnes both received increased reps with the first team, and it appears they will get their chances this weekend to show they’re ready for prime time.
One big key this weekend is having a great game defensively, and the players understand that. They are very focused and are working on a lot of different looks for the LSU offense.
Mike Davis and Cory Boyd both had strong practices, and Brian Maddox received some carries as well.
Chris Smelley did not practice much, but they are still hopeful he’ll be ready by Saturday.
Overall, I hear the players are very excited about the opportunity they have this weekend. They are confident in their chances to pull off the upset. They know LSU is a great team, but they still believe they can compete and win.
