A question about the website - I'm having an issue but I don't think it has anything to do with GCC.

I was playing on my wife's lap top downstairs to be with her as she was watching a movie. Any, I went to GamecockCentral to see what is going on today in the world of Gamecockdom.

There is a thread listed that says something to the affect of "best porn ever" and I did not click on the thread on her computer. And please I am not blaming anyone for the issue. However, I did accidently click on the thread on my computer and when I did I switched off of it as soon as I could. Well, the thread is about cars- no issue there.

Well, after I got on my wife's computer and when to Gamecock Central. I got this message saying my personal information is being jeopardized to call our engineers and they get everything solved, etc. etc. Well, I know that is just a bunch of baloney. So, I shutdown my wife's computer and then turned it back on. And the same message was still on the computer and I couldn't switch to another site.

I wonder if somehow the message that I received picked up the word "porn" and then started with this message? I haven't used her lap top in a long time but I never remember getting any such message on her computer before. Let me say this, before I typed in Gamecock Central I checked out my email and sent an e-mail to someone and I did not get any interference from this site threating to shut my wife's computer down.

What's the deal? I don't believe the thread that has the word porn in it has anything to do with the interference.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Try restoring the computer to the last point before that event. If you can't do that, try some of the free malware/spyware removers. Stay away from the Russians if you can (Kaspersky, Acronis). Avast is OK as far as I know.

First try clearing your history. It may be an attached cookie. I get some you just won messages on occasion and I quickly clear it and then it's ok. Otherwise it might be a bad bug.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help! I am going to try those things and hopefully they will work.
