Time to focus on the Gamecocks that remain and the new blood that arrives this summer...A'ja, Bianca, Alexis, Tyasha, Doniyah and Nikia will have enough help to keep the Gamecocks winning big

Dawn Staley knows how to evaluate talent...The 2018 Gamecocks will still be great and contend for the Championships

How many will we have on scholarship if we don't add any beyond those that have already committed or signed?

12 players with a scholarship limit of 15. Who knows about transfers and there are no top level recruits unsigned and on the radar

8 returning players
Wilson, Harris, Cuevas-Moore, Jennings, Cliney, Patrick, Herbert-Harrigan,and Bradshaw

4 Freshman
Jackson 5'11" 2guard can play point in a pinch, slasher/Scorer/and shooter. Smart both parents are college head coaches
Troup 5'10" 2guard great shooter, ambidextrous, sees the court and is a great passer
Grissett 6'1" wing player. SCORES in transition, going to the basket and mid range jumperif she adjusts quickly will really ease the loss of Davis and Gray
Williams 6'4" PF can shoot mid range and great feet gets to the basket strong but lean

What happened to the wing recruiting over the last 4 years? Cliney is pretty much it for upperclassmen. Did some players not make it into school or transfer?

Davis and Gray sat out a year..We didn't have room until last years class graduated...She signed 3 wings in the incoming class...Bianca Jackson, LeLe Grissett and Haley Troup are all perimeter players

UCONN reloaded last year and lost only one game. Don't sell Dawn short. Also, I'm sure they will add another recruit or two if both players stay in the WNBA draft. We will be fine and everyone should be happy for Gray and Davis.

Alexis Jennings is a 6" 3" forward. At Ky she made the all SEC freshman team.

I wonder which grad transfer(s) Dawn's considering?

Thanks for this report. This is exactly what I came looking for. Now let's discuss the transition into next year. I really fell in love with Grey's style of contribute everywhere attitude. Similar to Sin in that she got boards, steals, points and played great D. Often this gets overlooked when you are not option 1-2. But she was vital down the stretch and really all year long. Davis brought tons of talent and length great Ft shooter but was lost really unless Wilson or Coates was off the floor.

Grey at 6'0 was a great rebounder/ Davis at 6'2 was a hard cover driving to the basket and could create and shoot over most gaurds. Because of these two girls play the loss of Alaina was absorbed. But now all three are gone and they were the core of 5 starters. Obviously, it begins with Wilson and her staying healthy all year.

I think Jennings coming in is huge because at 6'3 and having experience will help nullify "some" the loss of Coates/ Grey's rebounds. Two players that I look to take major steps next year is Harrigan and Harris. I like what I see in Harrigan. Not sure she missed a FT this year. Nice shot but looked raw and like a freshman. Harris was solid all year. But I think you will see Harris be more assertive on offense like we saw down the stretch.

As for the new comers I would love some input on their game and strengths and how they may impact next years team. Thanks! GO COCKS....

Can anyone tell me about these girls rankings and is any them considered to be the gem of the class or are they all fairly evenly ranked???

I hope we can keep a dominate big on the team. Coates and A'ja sure do spoil a fan. I see Williams and Jennings at 6'3/6'4 Williams you described as lean. Jennings will be in her what year?

IT'S THE NUMBER 7 CLASS IN THE COUNTRY... All are top 100...Elisia Grissett was ranked 15 in one poll and 24 in the other...Ladazhia Williams was ranked 31...Bianca Jackson was some where in the 40s and Haley Troup was ranked in the 90s...

Coach Staley on her own evaluation chose Grissett and LaDazhia over higher ranked players, she turned away...Two of the girls Dawn turned away went to Tennessee...Kishkituah is a 6'4" Center ranked ahead of Daz by gurus...But Dawn liked Daz much better..After Daz committed Kiki Kishkituah went to the Vols...But the Vols did beat us for Evina Westbrook(with a lot if help from Hurricane Matthew)..

The real reason Dawn turned her down is that Brad Muller couldn't spell or pronounce
Kiki Kishkituah
Kiki Kishkituah
Kiki Kishkituah

Daz was much easier:)

Anastasia Hayes was a pg that considered us. UT and 5 other finalists besides us promised to give all her younger sisters scholarships. From all accounts they are excellent but Dawn said "I am not playing that game." That and the fact that we had three great pgs already lead her to UT.

Dawn truly thinks Lele Grissett is massively underrated and better than than those higher rated higher and with more pub at her position.

Hayes is a point guard..Word is once she saw Tyasha Harris play she told Dawn there was not enough playing time here...She wasn't wise enough to know about Tennessee's Tia Cooper who was out injured...Cooper is a better player than Hayes by most evaluations...But you never know until the lights come on...The overrated wing player they signed is not half the baller Grissett is...Kk Kishkituah is just big and too slow to play for Dawn...She is a lead foot overhyped player that will struggle mightily in the SEC unless she can drop a lot of weight...

Too bad Duckett didn't work out. Hopefully the freshmen can develop quickly.

I think we'll be fine next year, though we would have been the favorites to repeat if Gray and Davis had come back. They did make the right decision, however.
