with the calls. Very lopsided foul calls, free throw attempts, and both Pearl and their player deserved technical fouls for showing up the refs but did not receive them.


Lesson learned. We need to stand up for ourselves and players more. All the whining clearly had an effect.

It shouldn't, but it does. Nolan Richardson perfected the art of influencing officiating with his "40 minutes of hell" defense which was a lot of tight, one-on-one, pressing D with a lot of slapping, bumping, physical play. Officials called a lot of that stuff fouls at the beginning of the game, but by the last 5 minutes, the refs were tired of blowing the whistle, and AR could do just about anything they wanted to on defense without getting called for it. In AU's case, it's 40 minutes of whining.
