Am i the only one hoping Coach K

I enjoyed that he went out with a loss on his garbage home court (Cameron is a dump, and is only idealized because of the great teams that played there). Agree with Stock, he might be the greatest basketball coach of all time - but he's not likable and I have no allegiance to him - so let him go down in defeat. It's sports-hate, it's what keeps the game going through the generations! If I ever met him in person I'd sing his praises. But right now - eat it Coach K!

Yeah, tear down Cameron. It’s a dump. While we’re at it, Fenway and Wrigley are dumps. Tear them down too?

K had to know that last night was a trap. UNC coming in loose with nothing to lose. And he had to guide a young team that had to manage the emotional evening with generations of great Duke players that came before them on hand watching. And it was on their shoulders to win and make the evening complete. They looked over hyped to start the game, and then I think they were emotionally spent and just ran out of gas in the 2nd half because of it. Always good to see K lose, but last night was especially satisfying considering the circumstances.

It was a disappointing end to an evening, but it will all be forgotten if Duke can go on to a National Championship.

I didn’t say tear it down. Though it will lose all its charm now that K is gone and the program enters into its decline.

I get tired of coaches using the excuse that they have a young team. Who cares? Whose fault is that?

I don’t see any way Duke wins a national championship this year. They don’t play good enough defense and they don’t rebound (their downfall through the decades) and though they sometimes live by he three, they die by it, too.

Who is going to win it, then? Gonzaga? They don’t handle pressure well and get taken out of their sets. Auburn? Their guards take too many bad shots and they don’t use the advantage of their bigs as much as they should. Kentucky? Duke has already beaten them this year. Duke may not win it, but they have as good a chance as about 8-10 teams. Yesterday’s loss hurt their chances at a #1 seed, but they can get that back with a good showing in their tournament. I see the potential winner coming from a group of those teams, all of which have flaws.

I think the team that wins it is a team that can defend and rebound. Duke does not. Oh, they’ll get fired up and get 2-3 stops and the announcers will rave about their defense. Then they’ll give up 3 wide open treys and 3 dunks and that’s their pattern. It won’t happen because they aren’t good enough, but I would love to see Wisconsin or Murray State or Loyola win it. Somebody different that has a veteran team that has paid their dues and stayed in school.

Why? Don't care one way or the other. Having said that, might be the best college basketball coach ever. Bobby Knight hates him, which is a plus in my book.
At their age, this is very sad ... former player and coach, who at one time greatly admired one another ... evidently much has happened and who truly knows what did happen ... it is just sad that at this stage of life, this is where they are ... God, show us mercy and may we show mercy and grace ...

This year's tourney is about as wide open as we have seen. Usually there are two, three, dominant teams that you can almost bet will produce the winner. Not so this year. Gonzaga is good, but not as good as they were last year. And they play in a conference where some of their rivals play in what basically look like big high school gyms. Depends who gets hot at the right time, and per usual, bet on the team with the strongest guards. Controlling the game with great guard play often seems to be the difference in March

Some things I remember about K’s time at Duke: having a cussing tirade at practice with multiple f words while two volleyball teams are waiting to come on the court for a match and he has went half hour overtime delaying their match, Laetner kicking an opponent while he is lying on the court, ol Tripper tripping opponents in 3-4 games (even in the nba now he’s still tripping) and K doing little to nothing about it, Dean whipping his arse, and recently the incident of the two players in the car (drinking and driving) and asst coach fails to shake hands after getting beat ( no big deal on that). Many more. Obviously, I’m no fan of his.

Aside from the fact that he's a proven winner, I've never really understood the animosity that fans of programs other than UNC have for Coach K. If you're a UNC fan, you get to hate him simply because he's the Duke coach. All other fan hate simply serves to further substantiate that he's a great coach.

See post #21. That’s why I don’t like him.
