It's very depressing because I love basketball and I want us to be great at it. After the last 20 years since we won the SEC, I've been kind of numb towards it all. Even when we won back to back NIT's it made me feel like we should've made the tourney. I still think Frank will get it done. He's just inherited such a mess.
It's over permanently until we hire a legit HC, like Gregg Marshall.

As usual, we missed a boatload of wide open 3's. It could have been a respectable outing with a decent shooting performance. BTW, I despise Willie Stein....acted as if he was dominating against the Magic era Lakers.

They grabbed my attention when they blew out Oklahoma State and Clempson, then beat top 10 Iowa State...but they sure have lost my attention since then. Hell, I didn't even know who we were playing today until about an hour before the game, and that was only because they mentioned it during the game I was watching. So many years of sucking has made me not even care about Gamecock basketball...which is a shame because I used to love it.

Colacock same thing happened to me today. I was headed to Food Lion and looking to tune in to the baseball game and I heard the basketball pregame show. It was only then I realized the men's team was playing UK. This from a fan who LOVES gamecock basketball and have been to a bunch of games this year but when I started to focus on baseball the basketball team went on the back burner.
That ship has sailed when Mike McGee, Eric Hyman x 2 didn't hire him....

"Gamecock Basketball" is the Women's program (since 2002 ... 5 Second Rounds, 3 Sweet 16's, and 1 Elite 8; plus whatever happens this year).

What did people expect playing @ Kentucky. If you used this game to give up on the team, then your opinion is useless. I'm still in the minority that our 3 home games are all winnable and will be at every one of them.

Calling the SEC A terrible conference shows how little you know about basketball! There are 5-6+ teams in this conference with a shot at making the dance- one is the NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE NATION AND CURRENTLY UNDEFEATED. That is FAR from a terrible conference. It is a consistent misconception perpetuated by lazy media who would prefer things to be static in sports when they are far from it. This is possibly the strongest the SEC has ever been in basketball and further proof of how dominant this conference is in athletics overall! Outside of the top5-6 up teams, there are multiples that are dramatically improved and during a down year would have made the dance if not for the tough comp IN THE CONFERENCE! Just utter BS.. "Terrible conference"... You just spout off whatever you can think of to make us look as bad as possible... We all know our team struggled this year, we don't need the trolls exaggerating things to make us look worse.

Means nothing for the season? It gives us a possibility for some post season action, but yea that means nothing to the forward movement of this program in the grand scheme of things. It seems as though the worst thing to happen to this team were the non conference wins. Gave the false hope of a team and program progressing faster than what was initially expected. At the beginning of the season, people thought we would be borderline NIT. Now that we sit here and try to decipher what has taken place over the course of the season, we have posters exclaiming to terminate our program and give up on the team. It's ridiculous.
You finally might be correct about something. Gregg Marshall is much bigger than us now, and we could not afford him, even if he wanted to coach here now. He will leave WSU only for a top-10 job.
Marshall is elite, and Frank Martin is 13-37 in the SEC.
We need a coach who can recruit in the NY , and DC area successfully, and shift our recruiting focus nationally... This idea of recruiting in state talent first, has been tried over and over with no improvement in our program. Case in point: look at Dawn Staley's recruiting map...How did McGuire build a program here?... We have the blueprint, let's get a nationally known coach who can recruit the metro areas successfully..
Just so you know a majority of Dawn's team right now are from South Carolina or Charlotte.

I know, he won't coach here because he is not stupid. He is in a good situation and would never come here if this place were a dumpster fire. Maybe I'll go ahead and amend that he will never coach here, and say he will never coach here while we are a bad team. He won't to get the one to get this program off the bottom. If he is ever going to coach her, someone else is going to have to save it.
