Board voted today to name the alumni association after Harris Pastides. It will be the Harris Pastides Alumni Center.
Also approved renovations for Williams-Brice as well, up to $22 million in renovations. We’ll get more from Ray Tanner in a minute about specifically what that will go towards.
Ray Tanner said there’s an expected return on investment of at least $1 million. Said they’re hoping for more.
They mentioned wanting to spend more on the football facility. Said in recent memory only Vanderbilt has spent less on their football stadium.
Talked with Ray Tanner afterwards and he wanted to clarify the not about not spending more than other schools except Vandy. Said that number was based solely on the stadium and did not include the money spent on the indoor facility and new ops building.
--Money will go towards renovations and retrofitting areas at Williams-Brice. Said there will be more premium seating areas and about 8,000 seats with air conditioning.
--This important to do with more folks opting to watch games from home, etc. Biggest thing is they won't be losing many seats like other schools. Said they're expecting to just lose about 100 seats.
--Seats in the east stands will be redone to be cooler and not get as hot as they typically do in the sun.
--Bathrooms and concession stands will continue to be renovated moving forward.
Timeline for these to be finished is before the 2020 season. Construction crews would be working right after 2019 ends.
