Auburn hires Muschamp and is killing it in recruiting

Even after the all time historic defensive downfall this past season, not hiring Muschamp had to be the biggest letdown for me. Would absolutely love to know what the real story was behind our approach, or lack thereof, to hiring him.
Spurrier wanted to keep coaches until signing day, so we could keep recruits who were recruited by (and had a relationship with) Ward. That worked out great, didn't it?
Their class is ranked higher than ours
and Will is in on a 5 star defensive end - which is more than we can say.

your missing it. yes i would agree that the overall program went right off a cliff but 1 their defense stayed strong the entire time (practically their only strength. conveniently enough that's what we'd use them for and 2 nobody here is saying give them the reigns to the offense or our overall program.
I hope that's not true. We don't really know what happened but there was an awful lot of smoke without a fire. If we could have gotten WM, it would have reenergized the fanbase and potential recruits.
Let's hope something happens the next few days that will at least give us some hope for 2015.

That says something in a day and an age where Mr. South Carolina football has his offer yanked and a player like Key can't keep his word of honor and yanking the coach's chain...
It's good we got six defensive ends since we appeared to have about half of one last year. This recruiting season they hemoraghed defensive backs and offensive linemen. How do you miss your first choices in whole categories of players year after year?
If Muschamp was so darn good at recruiting .....how in the heck did get fired in Fla. when they have the greatest number of recruits to choose from in the nation? Oh wait, Auburn has been recruiting top rated teams before Muschamp even stepped on the campus there. Never mind.
They just hauled in the #1 recruit in Byron Cowart. Auburn may win the NC next year with a Gus Malzahn offense and Will Muschamp Defense.
Muschamp wasn't coming here so not sure why everyone whines about it like he was. That Auburn is doing well in recruiting is nothing new and I am sure Muschamp isn't that much of a difference maker to their class.

Only an IDIOT believes our current dline coach is better than Lawing. I can't respect you as a human being. That's a special kind of stupid.
Not my fight, but Im gonna chime in from an unbiased viewpoint....
Muschamp recruited extremely well, as in Top 5, Top 10 classes during his time at UF. They were way down this year for the obvious reasons of his expected and eventual firing. The man can recruit and coach defense and his record speaks volumes, he's just a terrible HC.
I would think any program that could get Muschamp would drool all over themselves to get him.
Auburn just hired the # 1 recruiter in the country, Lance Thompson way from Alabama.I'm sure he already had a relationship with many of the guys Auburn was going after and I'm sure it will pay big dividends down the road.I believe they also have Rodney Garner who is also a dynamite recruiter.Auburn will be a handfull over the next few years.
