Battleship Texas in dry dock

My understanding is it's the last American vessel we have that fought in both world wars. God bless Texas.

USS Texas off Iwo Jima

Not bad considering the ship is 110 years old. It cost six million dollars to build and constructed in just over one year, but you will not see that kind of cost or timeline for a ship to be produced today.

Would be interesting to find out how they developed the keel block plan for that old tin can. My guess is someone still had some drawings from its last dry docking.

Good Ole' Battle Wagon there !

Im guessing 1916 built !
Built at Newport News, Virginia, was commissioned in March 1914. In May of 1914, she steamed to Vera Cruz to support the occupation of that Mexican city. Regular operations with the Atlantic Fleet began in mid-year and continued to January 1918.
