I disagree. Old guys who can't hold their water and want to change coaches every five minutes is a bigger problem. Beamer may fail, or may not, no way to know without giving him a chance.

Have we really changed coaches that often? People calling for it on message boards doesn't mean it's actually happening.

Beamer has already failed. He is not a SEC head coach and never will be. He has had a chance and now it is just a matter of time until he is fired. The only question left is how much more damage will he be allopwed to do before he is fired.

You my friend have some common sense, unfortunately our fan base believes you have to give a guy 6 years, even when its obvious he has no clue what he is doing. I remember when Beamer was hired, he claimed he was getting tons of calls from top notch coaches wanting to join his staff. What happened to them. Instead he hired the best man from his wedding that had already been fired twice from other programs.

With the portal you should see progress from year 1 to year2. If not, you don’t have a coach that will compete for anything that matters.

Beamer's fate will be determined on the OC hire in the next few months. Hopefully he makes better decisions than the worthless POS tanner.

Face it folks Beamer is way in over his head. 5 or 6 wins will be the ceiling every year. The sooner you face it the sooner we can move on. This team sucks, no better than last year, maybe even worse.
Move on to what? This program is what it is, and so forth.

So 13 wins and 10 losses in less than two years puts Beamer on the 'hot seat'? That's ridiculous!
Fire him now and the only coach that will come here is another Beamer type. Question that begs for an answer is 'why does a major university with SEC money have only a first rate WBB coach? I'll wait for an answer.

His results have not put him at risk of being fired now, imo. He still has a full wave of sacrificing coordinators to buy a couple years.

I do feel he will never be more than mediocre here, and was a lazy hire, but I agree that firing him now does not do the program any favors.

Hard to say who's right in this thread. I know our record (every year) suggests we are a terrible program that doesn't have the support from the top down when it comes to higher expectations. I think Beamer could be a good coach. His problem is his lack of experience that could easily be remedied by hiring some sound coordinators. Learning on the job in the SEC is not ideal especially when your staff is also subpar. IMO, our University has never committed to the success of our football program.

If Ray Tanner was a real AD, he would go ahead and cut this experiment short and get Chadwell.

The real question is how does Ray Tanner give Beamer and extension after we get blown out the last 3 games of the season?

The only way Beamer was ever going to succeed was going to be if he could hire quality assistant coaches.

He had his opportunity and showed he can't. No reason to waste 3 more years when he's already shown he can't do the job.

Everybody blames Satterfield for the team woes. But Beamer hired him. But here is the issue. It isn't the plays as much as the players. I find it almost humorous on Twitter when Beamer welcomes home another 3 star that gets everyone excited. But the teams USC needs to beat are almost embarrassed when they don't get 5 stars. Bottom line is that Beamer came cheap, and his daddy had a famous last name in football circles. Nobody in the country even considered him for a coordinator position, and was never on a list of prospective head coaches until USC came along. I think he is a bit out of his depth, and now UT has passed USC and it appears UF is going to just get better. Both have much better recruiting classes on the horizon, and let's not forget that UGA isn't going anywhere. And it isn't all Beamers fault to be honest. USC is a 6 win a year team. 7 if things go real well. 8 in a special year. But just don't recruit well enough for much else. The only thing that might change it is to back up the Brinks truck and pay a big time coach more than he ever dreamed to come to Columbia. But that won't happen. Why? Because I think the decision makers, and this goes higher than Ray, are more than happy with being.mediocre, going to a joke bowl most every year, and most importantly, cashing the big SEC check every year.

No he’s right actually. Sunshine pumpers and coach worshipers like yourself are where we were before Spurrier got here. He got us over that hump. And damn if we aren’t headed right back to it. You’ll learn young one.

This. It’s a money train by doing just bare minimum. It’s like being on welfare. Our fans deserve so much more.

Because many believe winning 6 and going to a no-name bowl is some real accomplishment, and it’s really not when you look at who we beat

Chadwell was the obvious/better choice, but no refunds now. We are in this for at least 2-3 more seasons, and Chadwell will be winning 9/10 games at VaTech or USF or somewhere and will never consider USC again, so lets hope it changes here for the better.

I'll take it. I'm not happy about it. But I'll take it in a year two of a coaches tenure. I dont know about you, but I dont like going through the holidays knowing we are not playing. That aboslutely sucks. You may rather not play anyone unless they are a brand name, but not me. When we are a 6 win team, I dont care who we play, just play.

Sunshine pumpers like you are the reason this program sucks every year. Keep being happy with mediocrity loser.

No. The fans have little, to nothing, to do with it. Unless of course they are billionaires that are willing to shovel money into buyouts and giant contracts - then the fans have a seat at the table.

This whole "accepting mediocrity" trope is so silly. You just need to go make some more money and put it into the program - if you don't, you are the issue.

I rarely read, much less post, on this site anymore. But after yesterday's debacle, I thought I'd check it out. Just want to say that you are spot on. I don't KNOW but, I don't sense that there's the commitment from the USC BOT to have a nationally relevant football program. For whatever reason, there is such a commitment at Clemson and has been for the past 50 years, and probably long before that.

Beamer was a gamble. Maybe he will work out. But, for that to happen, he will have to man up and make some wholesale changes on his coaching staff, hiring ALL people based on merit, not on favors. Last year, he paid lip service about evaluating his coaches at the end of the season. I don't think he has any choice this time. We are never going to outrecruit most SEC teams. If you count Texas and Oklahoma, we are 9th out of 16 teams in the conference in recruiting. And Beamer is supposed to be some sort of super duper recruiter. If Beamer does not have assistants on his staff that can get more out of less, Beamer's teams will continue being mediocre. Look at Beamer's performance. Who did we beat last year? Florida and Auburn were imploding programs (both their Head Coaches gone within a year after we beat them). North Carolina had a losing record. Have we beaten an above average team this year? Kentucky has a losing conference record.

Beamer is not going anywhere after this season. But, by the 3rd season, you KNOW what you have in a Head Coach. I would hope that if we continue to be embarrassing next season, Beamer would be escorted out the door. BUT, we are the same school that (before my time) gave Head Football Coach Warren Giese a lifetime contract. Of course this is a different BOT. But, so far, today's BOT has proven to be similar bozos.

Looks like its working out well for Tenn.

Beamer is USC’s version of Derek Dooley, the Tennessee coach from 2010-2012. Son of a famous coach, a 5-7 or 6-6 coach, and essentially “nothing special”. The difference is that Tennessee got rid of Dooley after 3 mediocre years…and we celebrate mediocre with a mediocre bowl as some form of achievement. Waiting for the contract extension from the BOT for Shane.

You don't have to give him six years, but two is clearly not enough.

So you are saying that Tennessee didn't get rid of Dooley before the end of his second season, so it is too early? Because that is the logic your post should dictate. If you still want to get rid of Beamer after next year, then okay. But less than two seasons in is not a good plan. Tennessee didn't get rid of Dooley that early.

I’m saying there hasn’t been material improvement in this program from year 1 to year 2. If we are sitting here next year celebrating at 6&6 and another mediocre bowl I think he should be fired. But won’t be. Dooley coached from 2010-2012 at Tennessee as I stated earlier. 3 years of mediocre. Was replaced by Butch Jones.
