BENCH Rattler………………………

Its all on the OC. The offense looked confused the whole game. I heard part of a Satterfield interview on 107.5 last week where a reporter asked about his scripted plays and the 1st TAMU turnover at the 5 yard line. The reporter asked if he went off the script for that short drive and he said no. To me in that instance, you need to suspend the script. You can go back on script the next drive.

Folks you can blame Rattler all you want but this is on the two coaches on the hot seat all year and rightfully so. The line is horrible and continues to get worse as the season goes on. Look at the film. Guys just getting beat left and right. The play calling is so bland and predictable. One play in particular where we handed off to Lloyd and there were 4 guys in the backfield before he even got his hands on the ball good. So many of our pass patterns are run within 3 yards of the line of the scrimmage. Hard to create separation. And don’t even get started on Jaheim Bell or the fact that Beamer has to tell Satterfield “get the ball to our best players”

I’ll also put this out there. For his entire career (hurt or not) the backup has not even come close to giving us a win against anyone with a pulse. He’s no where near ready and doubt he ever will be. That’s a pipe dream.

The defense knows what we are running before we even snap the ball. Any yards we get is from an outstanding play by one of our players. I'm not sold on Rattler, but I'm 100% Marcus has to go. If not, Shane will be gone in 4-5yrs if he sticks with Marcus. Wish he would of made that switch last off-season, but it's beyond critical that we have a new OC before spring practice.

It’s beyond belief a coach wouldn’t at least try to see if Doty can provide a spark. Many times a QB change has kick started teams that are struggling to move the ball and score. This was so much like that lousy Belk Bowl where we stayed in striking distance but could never catch up and old Chump just kept running Jake out over and over again. It would do the team a favor and even Rattler because it would at least prove one way or the other if getting some mobility on the field would help.

I don’t know about benching Rattler. But the entire offense needs to be utilizing that $90,000,000 practice facility much more often than they are.

Connor Shaw proved to be a pretty good backup!

We’re not talking about Connor Shaw, a guy that showed promise from day one. We’re talking about Luke Doty who has looked his best in one drive when we were down 40 against Georgias third stringers.

Aggies house is about to burn down…they have the gators, Auburn, and LSU waiting. Jimbo is in year 5 and that program is going nowhere…

Get Conner Weigmann to transfer. That kid can ball. College station is where you’re career goes to die.

I gotta wonder why in the world we even buy conditioning equipment... seems like a waste to me when you have guys tapping out every couple of plays.

You can pretty much count on our guys tapping out everytime they make a decent play. It happens on offense and defense. Very soft.

Rattler has been disappointing, to say the least. He was supposed to be able to compensate for our OL deficiencies by getting the ball out quicker, making good decisions, and using his athletic ability to extend plays.

Instead, he has held the ball too long, been slow on his progressions, and hesitant to take what the defense gives him.

I don't think he trusts our OL, and is timid. Not sure I can blame him.

Doty played before and wasn’t exactly world breaker. I think Rattler is better by a good little margin.

At some point you should get the back up some game action whether it's Doty, Joiner or whoever. You never know.

I see some arm talent but he seems pretty average on head knowledge. Definitely a below average runner. I’m all for pulling out every stop to shake up the offense and make every effort to snatch a win out of the last three games I don’t care how ugly it is. And if Rattler isn’t performing for gosh sakes try something else. We’ve locked up a scrub bowl and getting one more win is all that matters to show real improvement.

Rattler is by far the most talented QB that SC has had in a long time. His biggest issue is he doesn't perform well under pressure. Without fixing the Ol, he won't be the value that he could be.
Rattled Rattler. Agree on the problem. However, not sure a decent OL fixes anything for him if the stint at OU is any indication. He regularly feels pressure when there isn't any. He also is indecisive when running is the clear option. But he does throw a beautiful ball at times.

He might need a shrink in additional to that revamped OL. If we could combine Doty's toughness and ability to run with Rattler's arm, we would likely have something special.

This seems to be a reoccurring issue here. Once a QB loses confidence in his OL, it's over. Same thing happened with Bentley imo. The OL got better in front of him, but the damage was already done. Mental I guess. He never seemed to trust them again. At least that's the way it looked to me

Most of that is when he is getting hit a lot. Give him some protection where he feels comfortable and he has a good arm and can be accurate when not panicked. In 2020, he threw 28 TD passes. But he was getting good protection with o-line Creed Humphrey (2nd round pick), Adrian Ealy (two time 2nd team all-Big 12), and Marquis Hayes (drafted and playing for the Cardinals).
