Betting question: What if a line is hit exactly?

So I was wondering...Usually I see lines as -6.5 or -7.5, but occasionally I see a line as -7. I understand why they use ".5" to avoid exact matches. But when they have a line as a straight -7, and the favored team wins 28-21, what do the bookies do with this? Thanks.

Typically the tie goes to the bookie, or it use to years ago when I use to do a little betting. If you are making an individual bet with a friend and you are betting without the 0.5 I would have an understanding up front if it came out to be a tie as far as the betting points are concerned.

Most of my betting was with local bookies. I think online like Betus.com is definitely a loss on a tie but local bookies have their own rules. I had one bookie that would not take your money except he still took his rake of 8% whether it was a win or a push. He usually gave the best spreads but he took more rakes.

I speak from experience.

I bet $10 on a 12 game parlay. Would have won approx $25K, if I hit all.

I got 11 right and a push, (giving Ga Tech 10 pts over UVA). Tech won 34-24.
Bovada paid as if I had bet an 11 game parlay = $12,604.34

No Hassles, they just paid me. I thought I had lost.

With the betting houses ... a push is exactly the same as though a bet had never been placed.on that game.

all straight line favored team tie bets are no bets and in Vegas your money is returned since you had to put up your money before the game is played

I thought the bookie gets the 10% “vig” but you don’t lose your bet.

The bookies in the upstate do. The only time you don't have to pay the bookie fee is when you win.

if you're playing with a bookie in the upstate, and he's charging you vig on push bets you're with the wrong guy.....I've used bookies in Greenville for 30+ years and NEVER paid "vig " on a straight line bet

As I said before, every bookie has their own rules, depends on who you use. My bookies only took their rake on wins and pushes, the loss didn't pay an additional 8-10%. You bet $100 and lose then pay a VIG, so you lose $110? Not the guys I bet with, you bet $100 and win you get $90, same for push but if you lose you lose $100 not $110

I have never used one that didn't. Your bookie first name start with a S.

from 1979 to approx. 2009 in Greenville i used many bookies ( probably 10 or so , knew more books, than i cared to know... even helped them several times on Saturday when they were busy...drank beer, bar hoped with them and never heard or paid vig on push bets

......i cant believe things have changed in 8 years or even books could get away with the charge.

...but one phone call could verify this

that is crazy..only in baseball playing the favorite where that makes since

Well I used that for easy figures, my guy was 8%, paid vig on wins and push. Didn't pay $108 on a $100 loss. He didn't want to collect an additional $80 if someone loss $1000. But I have seen it other way also. I have an acct right now where it is as I explained but I haven't used it this year.

My buddy bets. With his bookie it's a push. It would either mean he didn't lose or win or he can just wager that money on another game. He would usually choose the latter.

I'm in the upstate and the bookies I've used over the years have never won on a push and not for a vig either. If one tried where I live, guys would go to another bookie. That's just crazy.

Crazy is correct , but hey if they can get players to go alone with such craziness good for the bookies that take the posters on this site bets
the fact that anyone would pay a bookie money on tie bet is just stupid.

Your buddy's bets are correct ...

Can anyone provide me advice or direction on finding a booking in the Greenville area? I'm currently on Betmania and Sportsbetting.ag but would like to use a local bookie instead. Willing to talk over the phone or meet if anyone knows someone. Thanks in advance.

This is when Vegas keeps all the money, fees & the vig

Yeah unfortunately it’s a push and the house wins . Sucks . Had that happen a few times .

Unless you have a friend that has a bookie, that’s gonna be tough. Good luck though.

Thanks. That's what I'm totally finding. I have googled. Searched. Checked forums. I'm not a big bettor but really struggling to find someone. Thanks for responding. I don't have any friends that bet so I wouldn't even know where to start.

Mine is in Gaffney. You prolly want to look closer to home.

I mean, at this point...I haven't found anyone in GVL. Feel free to pass my info onto them. Not sure how it works. I'm assuming they want to research me or whatever. I have a pretty public profile so it's easy to do. Just let me know.

The only one who wins is the bookie or casino. They win on both sides. That is there wet dream

If you don’t know the answer to your question you probably shouldn’t be gambling
