Big pickup - Four star DB commits

If Shane and his staff coach like they recruit we are in for a pleasant surprise over the next few years. Maybe even this year.

Seriously, how can the coaching not be vastly improved over Chump? We just need to execute and not fumble f==k around with false starts, off sides, stupid penalties and dumb time outs. Eyeball test matters!

Can he play corner? We're loading up on safeties. They all can't play safety.

Anybody know? He looks like a good size for corner if he has the speed, which I presume he does.

This is the commit that makes me think Beamer will be a success here. His recruiting is infective.
The social media impact has been dramatic. All of our staff are “pushing in the same direction” right now and it has been fun to watch! I think some of their recruiting success is directly attributable to their interactions on social media and the way they have motivated our fan base there. That means so much to young people, this staff embraces it and the open architecture of allowing all coaches and players to say and do what they want is night and day from the “Iron curtain” approach WM took! I am as excited about our future as I have been since Sourrier left!

A big difference from a coach and staff that is hungry and one that is fat, dumb and happy.

I just checked our commitment list. We have 6 DB commitments, but 5 of these are safeties. Unless some of these guys can play corner we are way out of balance. This is one of the beefs I have about this ranking system. It only counts the "stars." It doesn't consider whether you are overloaded in one position and deficient in others. It also does not take into account a teams recruitment in positions of need.

I remember the year Clemsux signed Roscoe Crosby. They had a highly ranked recruiting class but that was because they had Crosby and 2 other superstar WR recruits that boosted their ranking, while deficient in other areas. As a result this class really did not help the team progress. Also, Crosby never really contributed to the team until he left.

And catch the ball and block and get off blocks. And we need a coach who understands the importance of clock management and how to do math in his head.

It's a very encouraging sign for Beamer's recruiting prowess that he's managing to put together a decently-regarded class as a rookie HC for a program coming off a 2-win season.

One would only expect it to improve as he starts to get some success and experience under his belt.

I certainly agree that positional balance within a class is important, but I'm not too worried about this yet.

In addition to cross-training them as corners, as you mentioned, it's certainly possible that some of the HS safeties will grow into LBs.

Beyond that, the college game seems to be moving in a direction of more 3+ WR sets, so having extra nickel DBs is always handy. Not to mention that special teams are often heavy on players with safety-type skillsets. Finally, anyone who saw USC play last year can see that this program is in serious need of an infusion of athleticism. I think it makes some degree of sense for Beamer to focus on bringing in the best possible athletes regardless of position, so as to raise the overall athleticism across the roster.

Re : all the safeties

the new dc wants me undersized LB or bigger safeties for Nickel Back

Muschamp wanted oversized corners

Exactly. It provides more flexibility.

Talk all day long, have fun, get excited…just don’t call him a commit
You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. When a recruit COMMITS you call them a COMMITMENT. When they sign they are a member of the team IOW an incoming FRESHMAN.
Is this your first year following college football? 😂

“Verbal commit”. That’s not a commit, it’s a reservation. But I guess in 2021 we call it a commitment. He will keep talking to others and making visits. Who knows where he ends up.

You sound like an idiot.

lol. Do you really think these coaches just go out and overload a position or do you think they know these kids can transition? I swear some of you people just cant be happy and look for the positive.

2021? Unless this is your first year following recruiting, you should know that is what is has been called for decades. Can they change their mind? Yes. But most actually stick to it. It does not change what it is called. Once they sign they are signees and incoming freshmen.
