Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Postseason Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. The Braves are down one game in the best of 5 series and really need to pick up the win today and keep the pressure of Anderson in game 3. Had chances yesterday but just couldn’t get a clutch hit when it was needed most, no sacrifice flies , no sacrifice bunts. ABC baseball is an essential element in the postseason and teams who do the key fundamental plays usually win. The Brewers had some excellent defensive plays when they needed them most and the Braves management watched the pitch count instead of the pitcher and it cost them the game. Morton was excellent through 6 innings but looked like he was losing his stuff but looking at the pitch count only, sending him back out seemed logical. That is is different in the postseason. You cannot just look at numbers. You have watched players perform all year and should be able to tell when they are laboring. New day and new game.
Pregame Analysis
The Braves will throw Max Fried in game 3 of the the division series. He has been a model of consistency for this team and has thrown 2 college games shutouts this season. When he is on his game he keeps hitters off balance with his electric fastball and explosive curveball combinations. He gets a lot of ground ball outs and strikeouts when he is on his game and with the excellent infield a bevy of ground balls is a very good sign of his success. He has not faced the Brewers this season so that is also a benefit on his behalf.
The Brewers are countering with Brandon Woodfruff (rhp). He has had a very good season and faced the Braves earlier this season going 5.1 innings giving up 3 runs including a homer, had 6K and a BB. The Braves seem to have worn him down in their previous encounter but he is an. effective hurler. The Braves just need to put some hits together and move runners over when the opportunity arises. The team just cannot afford to depend on home-runs to score. I do t think it’s against the rules to score on other ways 😎. I am pumped for this game today and the Braves will even the series heading back to The ATL. Go Gamecocks and Chop On.
