Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. Great answer last night by a very dormant offense. It is as if a metamorphosis occurred and the larvae 🐛 became butterflies 🦋 all of a sudden. But these butterflies were infused with superchargers as balls were flying out of the park left and right. Riley had 2 and 6 Rbi, Albies had a 2 run bomb, Almonte also participated with an oppo taco 🌮 2 run homer. To start the scoring in the first inning Swanson opened the floodgates with a 2 run double. The run production made it easier for Morton to pitch but eventually lead to his struggles in the 3rd and again in the 5th as he expended lots of unnecessary energy trying to paint corners and miss bats. He completed his requisite 5 innings and the bullpen finished the outing. The win closed the gap to 4 game deficit for the Braves as they continue to try to whittle down the lead. Two more games remain beginning at 7:10 tonight and culminating in an afternoon contest at 12:10 tomorrow.

The Braves will throw Max Fried tonight against Mets rookie phenom Tyler McGill who has really been impressive in his young career. He started his first major league game against the Braves and has really held his own and pitched well. He waste no time between pitches and attacks the strike zone with pitches that seem to surprise hitters with their suddenness at the plate. That means batters don’t pick the ball up from his point of release very well and is very advantageous early as players have not gotten a book on him or have enough film to adequately prepare. Even if they did it may be difficult to translate to plate appearances without having a good visual of his release point. The timing factor really makes him an effective pitcher. Max Fried has established himself as an emerging Frontline starter. He is a slow starter in his young career as it takes him a couple of innings to master his release point and to pinpoint his control. When he is on he is almost un-hittable 😎. If he is painting with his fastball his breaking balls can embarrass a hitter. Looking forward to a pitching duel with the Braves working McGill to elevate his pitch count and task the Mets overworked bullpen again tonight.
