Welcome to another edition of Gamecock Central Braves Baseball ⚾️ Chat 💬. I am your host @Pfunk Cock along with a plethora of regular participants in the chat. After a much needed off day for the team and the host, the Braves and I get back to business. These Rockies are not the same road team that could not win to save their lives as they proved by taking the Phillies series which helped the Braves expand their lead in the East. They will now attempt to continue to be spoilers as the Phillies and Mets fans are now Rockies fans. I can just see @CockyJerseyGirl wirh her Rockies Pom Pom and @pepsicock with his cauldron of potions casting evil spells as I write this. 😎😎. Maybe it’s the other way around and Metstradamus has the Pom poms 😂😂😂. I kid because I love the banter and camaraderie of our Chat and Gamecocks family. Back to the mission at hand. Here is an article discussing tonight’s matchup.

Pregame Analysis
The Braves will throw Touki Toussaint (RHP) tonight as he tries to establish himself as a rotation piece going forward. He has been frustratingly inconsistent and just seems to get flustered and very loose with his mechanics. When he is on he posses some of the best assortment of breaking balls and swing and miss stuff but he has a tendency of trying to be too fine and his fastball control falters. He then ditched the fastball and loses confidence by overthrowing his breaking balls leading to walks and more and more trouble. What I need to see tonight is a confidant pitcher in afraid of using his repertoire of pitches in any given count and basically aiming for the center of the strike zone. He has so much natural movement that will allow him to stay ahead of the count and actually get more early outs. Strikeouts are great but conserving pitches for longevity is better. Use the fastball more liberally to prove that you can and the rest will come more naturally.
The Rockies will throw John Gray who is actually their Staff Ace. He has a 7-10 record, 4.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP with 133K and 54 BB. He has pitched 131 innings and allowed 120 hits with 15 homers. This translates to a pitcher who has the ability to strike out hitters but also gives up a lot of hits and has more than on base runner per inning. The starting lineup for the Braves have a very low batting average with Freeman and D’Arnaud having homered off Gray. Four hitter from tonight’s lineup has not faced him (Soler, Riley, Rosario and Toussaint). He has struck out Freeman 8 times in 13 AB and Swanson 5 times in 10 AB. Given this information it maybe difficult to score runs tonight or have sustained innings so we may need the home run balls to prevail.
