Coach Martin means business today -- giving the Strawberry Mamba some playing time.

Georgia looks like they're going to struggle to break 20 points. We can just hold the ball and limit their possessions and we got this one.

We wore them against Bama, so that's at least one win.

3 pointer Brian Steele! Timeout Georgia.
If he's gonna play they need to get him the ball and see if he can consistently hit the outside shot. He was open on the wing but I guess Carerra was jealous cuz he tried a 3 inside of passing it...and missed, of course.

Uncalled for Garnet Chicken.

He is the ultimate team player, although limited athletically, he gave us some quality minutes today. He hit a three, played great defense, and had zero turnovers.

Who the hell did you play D1 basketball for?????

Martin loves Steele, and has said so many times. He plays hard, never complains about PT, and is always encouraging the other Gamecocks.

Agree with Hobcaw

Good for him. I hope he plays that well every game. But do you really think he would be playing anywhere else in D1 ball? Just an observation, not a condemnation.

You do know he doesn't actually have a scholarship, right? He's a walk-on. Maybe he could play at a smaller school, maybe not. Still doesn't justify the mean-spiritedness of the original post.

He posted up and drilled his 3 with ease. Granted, it was a wide open look but it was a shot that nobody else has been able to hit consistently. And he did a good job on defense too. Not great, but he was aggressive and didn't allow an open shot on the perimeter.

I would like to see Martin give him more minutes. We need a perimeter shooter.

The slap about Newberry above was uncalled for. The kid was a great high school player at Wade Hampton. Led them to a state championship. Obviously doesn't have the physical gifts to have been a big time D1 recruit, but had numerous SoCon type opportunities. But he wanted to come to USC and walk-on, as opposed to playing much more at a smaller level. The one thing he can compete on at this level is shooting. He isn't ever going to create his own shot, but if you leave him open from three he will drill it. Probably at a higher rate than anyone on the team. And yea, he would start for Newberry.

Yeah, I draw the line at calling out walk-ons. I imagine we have scholarship players in several sports who contribute less than BS.
