Cancelled Games due to Florence

People better start looking at the European model.
That is a disastrous scenario for this state, especially since the evacuation has been called off in three of the counties on the coast nearest Georgia. USC-Beaufort is resuming operations on Thursday; it's students are returning tomorrow. What is the level of confidence in the European Model?

It's correct more than any other model. This is not good.

The Euro model was the only one that shifted Irma to the left coast of Florida and making landfall there. Most other models had it heading up the East coast of Florida up the Atlantic.

It's been considered by most meteorologists as the most reliable weather model.

The Euro model for Hurricane Florence could be catastrophic for this state.

Now they're projecting the storm to hit Wilmington area but hook more southwest over Dillon county and thru the northern midlands and end up over upstate South Carolina like Spartanburg and Greenville by Sunday as a depression. So it's expected to spend a lot of time in South Carolina. Highly doubt our game is played now.

The NWS composite model has been consistent in revising the path toward the south as it comes ashore. The European model is often right but also far from perfect in that it sometimes is really wrong. I pay attention to them all but when there is little solid data, none are completely accurate. This time, the reliable steering atmospheric currents are looking to dissipate as the storm nears land and its a crap shoot. Best to stay alert and ready to change course as needed. Stay safe.

@Rod Dangerfield called it. Not happy waking up to that change in the forecast this morning. Jim Gandy was on last night downplaying the euro model. Dang if everyone isn't now more consistent with that model. Don't like it for the midlands.

ECU really screwed VT. Looking at how they handled it.
They canceled early in the week didn't wait on any new forecasts even though it was in Blacksburg.

Then they go ahead and fly out to USF to wait and practice for their next conf game with USF.

Many VT fans were pretty upset forecast there for 2-3 inches of rain now. Could have just flown from Blacksburg to Florida where they are now.

That's something that could be a series breaker between the two esp since VT agreeds to home and home with them.
