For the head coach position. (Boston College and Missouri) I have to believe Caslen would love to have him here as a coach in waiting.

Wonder if he knows how to run more traditional offenses?

He was, I believe, on the staff at GA Southern when they beat a Will Muschamp coached Florida. Muschamp would deep inside loooove a ground based triple option being the old defensive guy. Keep Dak around. Our receivers have been ineffective and traditional run blocking is not our forte.

It all sounds too fantastic, but hey......two schools are talking to him.....

We've tried everything else.

Go ahead, I'm ready for the assault that is coming my way.

Brother, I won't bash you. But I will just say for the record that I would greatly oppose this.

I would absolutely hate this. I live in Atlanta and have felt sorry for all of my GT fans for years. Even though their team was terrible this year, they were still more exciting to watch than when they were running the option.

To each his own.
I love the option and have always loved watching Paul Johnson- and Jeff Monken-coached teams, whether at Georgia Southern or Tech or the military academies. When it's working, that flexbone is a thing of beauty.

The problem is those offenses create a definite ceiling for success. Not getting into how you stop them, but they can be stopped and you pretty much guarantee 2-3 losses every year, and in the SEC that number might be higher...

I feel that Monken will be the choice if Caslen has his way. A tough nosed coach that will instill discipline. That is his guy.

The Monken coaching family runs deep and wide. Todd Monken is OC for the Browns and was at Okie State.

Venables knows how to stop the option. For that reason alone, this should never happen at USC.

A few years ago Army was running the flex out of the Gun giving themselves a better passing option in the system. I actually thought it was genius and not cookie cutter spread stuff.
