CCU Offense is doing some interesting things...

I know there's not a ton of love for CCU on here; but as someone that grew up in Conway/Myrtle Beach loving Carolina, I have to say that they're doing some interesting things on offense. To be ranked in the top 10 (#2 yards per play, #7 YPG and PPG) in major offensives categories is pretty impressive, especially considering they do it in such a balanced way (slight edge to passing). Definitely like how our defense is playing this year and hope to see the offense continue to improve and get more production. Creative offenses are definitely showing that they can score in college football these days.

Honestly, I think if we can start averaging 30 ppg and continue to play the way we do on defense that we'd be looking at far easier 8-9 win seasons. Our defense typically plays solid and years where our offense and OL show up, we tend to find ourselves near top of the league.

If we played their competition level
Our offense would be ranked higher too

I reckon that's why sports world has called our offense one of the more innovative in college football. Oh wait. That was the CCU offense, not ours (which is ranked near the bottom of the nation again). Denial is a mother****er.

I’m not in denial. They’re running the triple option. It’s not groundbreaking or earth shattering. But knowledge of the game is a mother ****er too I guess.

Get pissy if you want, but they're a top 10 offense. We're top... 115. Clearly they're doing something right and have thrown some wrinkles in to make it successful beyond just a standard triple option. With all that knowledge, you should probably be coaching at a D1 school somewhere. Keep stroking that ego on message boards, Chief.

It's so obviously true after watching only one game of theirs.

Some people are acting like they're just running Navy's base triple option offense. Please.

They aren't a bad team, but playing our schedule, they wouldn't even be close to top 10 anything.

Nothing to argue. That's not what Ratheolcoach said. In fact, nobody suggested that.

Nothing. They’re running RPO and triple. Which is honestly the same thing, just optioning different players than traditional option offense. Oregon was doing it under chip Kelley. We did it some in Hs when I coached.

Lots of crappy teams do "interesting" things on offense. Thats the only way they can compete.

So that doesn't really tell us anything. CCU is a fine team. But I've watched them play. I've seen their schedule this year. It's all just meh.

Having one or two good seasons at a lower level school is not uncommon. In fact it happens pretty often.

Then those coaches move to a bigger program and get fired after three seasons. It's shockingly easy to predict what happens next for Chadwell and CCU.

Coastal just score 27 on South Alabama to win in overtime. Tennessee drops 60 on them last week.

Sorry. That's not a real "top 10 offense".

I’m not pissy. I just know the difference between truly innovative and some announcer on tv announcing that the offense is innovative. They’re certainly not lining up in double wing and running Navy triple. They changed the formation and they can throw the ball. But it’s no different that. What Deleware was doing in the 60’s and what Oregon did in the late 90’s and 2000’s. It’s triple from the gun. Hell wofford was doing it 15 years ago trying to spice up the triple. It’s lipstick on a pig. The bacon and the ham still taste delicious. But it’s the same animal.
