That nepotism. We all saw it start. Slowly at first, then it just got ridiculous. Can Clemson's Board reign it in now so that they can go outside, like Saban would, and get the best candidates for all of these open positions? Doubtful. Without an Athletic Director, Dabo will Dabo unchecked.

IPTAY has its own board. From what I have understood, the University's BOT doesn't get involved with athletics to any great extent.

I would not dance on Dabo's grave, yet. He has recruited a lot of 4 and 5 star players, hired good coaches, and made the CFP. Moreover, several coaches have gone on to HC roles. That will continue to attract coaches and players. I may not like Clemson, but it is a good program.

I was told he's a graduate of Miami? If that's true, I would still consider it a head scratcher.
He has a graduate degree from Miami. Some of the speculation is that D-Rad feeds off of a challenge and we know he loves to build buildings and at Miami, they may give him the money to build a stadium.

Where in Coral Gables is he going to find land to build a stadium? That has always been an issue for them.

Saw an article today about Miami group wanting to build a new high school for Coral Gables and then putting the stadium on the site of the current high school which is about 2 miles from campus. Article said they were looking at building a 50k seat stadium which would take up about 13 acres. The current high school site is 27 acres. Smart idea to offer to build the city a new high school to get the old site.

You mean they’ll be at 70% capacity most games. They rarely draw more than 35-40K based on the TV screen. Perhaps they will do better closer to campus. The acc has several schools competing with pro sports that lose the attendance ‘war’. Miami, BC, GT, and PITT come to mind. The SEC has VU competing with a few pro teams, that’s the only one I can think of in a large TV market.

A smaller version of the old Orange Bowl would be pretty cool...with added amenities, of course. Whoever designs the new place, if it happens, has a template to start with.

I agree. A new orange bowl with a retro look but all the new amenities would be a great venue. I do think being next to campus would help their attendance a lot. Right now its roughly a 40 minute ride to stadium from campus.

Perfect size stadium also - along the lines of Minnesota, Baylor, UCF, Houston.

I agree. It has always amazed me that UCLA has never built an on-campus stadium. I mean its pretty cool to call the Rose Bowl your home stadium, but its 25 miles away from Westwood and an easy hour plus drive from campus.

The UCLA campus is a beautiful property and a great part of town, but on-campus there would not be feasible. There's nothing around you could afford to buy, let alone buy to tear down.

Yes, i agree. It is a beautiful campus in a very expensive real estate area. Still, many of their alums have long pushed for them to use the property which is Drake Stadium, the on campus track and field stadium, to build a reasonably sized new on campus football stadium.

That would be a solution. It could be a homerun. It's then a matter of could you get such a large-use facility approved for that part of town because the opposition would be great and supporting public infrastructure would have to be constructed. If they got all that ironed out, I suppose they could send track-and-field off-campus without too much outcry.
