He is a Winner. No use to get our Hopes Up, AD Tanner and The BOT Will Never Allow South Carolina to Hire a Winner.

He Either Will Not Fit Our Budget Range. Our AD and the BOT are all about Saving Money.

Who wants to Hire a Winner?
South Carolina isn't Committed to Winning. We are Satisfied with Just taking the Money the SEC gives Us.

Apparently Ray pushed him to sign on Saturday, but the loser stench on Tanner pushed him to Xavier. This University oozes suck.

ROTFLMAO. Yeah, really have to push a coach to one of the most successful basketball programs in the country. The arrogance of some posters for our program in comparison to many others is absolutely unbelievable. You want to blame someone for having a "loser stench" regarding our basketball program, blame the guy who hired Horn and Martin over Marshall.

Off base how? I get that Miller was at Xavier before, but we should be able to sell someone on being able to make this program a top notch basketball program. Dawn Staley has done things for this University has never done in our history and noone could have anticipated before we hired her. It would appear from the outside that people look at this program with Tanner running the show and just don't see it. That is how we got stuck with Muschamp. We seldom if ever attract our first choice. Coaches can smell a loser, Tanner puts that scent out.

If South Carolina offered 2 million dollars more than the Musketeers did, how is that Coach Tanner's fault that Miller beer preferred Xavier over South Carolina? What I interpreted is that basketball coaches see South Carolina an extremely difficult challenge to win in Men's basketball. They see South Carolina as the Titanic.

Just goes to show that offering more money will not lure coaches to Columbia.

Anyone know if Gregg Marshall has been extended an interview? Marshall's record speaks for itself. It would be a shame if he goes to another big school and was sitting in our backyard the entire time. Columbia is not the easiest sell. Marshall seems like an obvious candidate if he wants to be at USC.

Miller was offered but with a note in the contract that stated if the NCAA found illegal action on his part (in his Arizona days) the contract would be voided at that time. Maybe that scared him off. Maybe Xavier didn’t have that in there. That’s the word circulating down here.

Call Marshall!

No one seems to know the details of his separation agreement with Wichita State other than he gets paid $7.75M over several years. He may lose the remainder of his buyout if he takes another HC job. Previously, he has applied for the opening at USC when we've had one.....haven't heard that he has this time.

South Carolina needs to avoid a potential Dick Sheridan situation of being snubbed.

I respect and agree with a lot you say on this forum, but I am not on board with hiring Marshall. Besides, how is Marshall suppose to recruit at South Carolina with that cloud hanging over his head.

IF he is a candidate, hopefully that would be part of the due diligence and it may take a while. To the best of my knowledge the only ones who have considered him a candidate is the fans. He may not be anywhere on our radar for varied reasons including the one you mentioned.

I like him because he is a good coach and has a reputation for finding good talent.....BUT he does now have some baggage that he didn't previously have. That and I may be able to scratch out a few free tickets. :)

I believe it could be a great fit. His ego got dinged (and deservedly so) but he's a top notch coach and people today have very short memories. He would get 12 solid players in his system in no time.

Too bad about that lingering contract though. Maybe he's content to be out of coaching and the limelight at this point in life.

I'm not saying that there is such a provision in his contract....just pondering what kinks there could be (1) in him having no offers and (2) no reports of him applying for the USC position which he has the last two times there was an opening. I don't think the details of his separation agreement with WSU has ever been disclosed.

He may be waiting on the job(s) he wants; sitting and waiting and being patient. Also, don’t know if it’s a factor (probably not), but he hasn’t been the head coach at a school where his program competes with a football program. He has always been the BMOC as far as coaches go.

Perhaps Mark Few is ready for a change of scenery? 🙂

Otherwise, maybe a long standing assistant coach? Their run at Gonzaga has been amazing.

Mark Few loves to fly fish from what I’ve heard. He have to travel too much to do that with regularity here. I guess you could fly fish in the Broad River, but not for trout.

Miller going to Xavier doesn't have anything to do with your opinion on Ray.
