Coach Spurrier said to us fans:

Then he said "who knows where we'll all be in two or three years"... I wish he would rehearse a LITTLE before just saying whatever pops into his head.

I won't worry about those guys unless they are whipping our tails on the field. Spurrier needs to worry about making sure that doesn't happen instead of worrying about what fans are worrying about. They are going to worry about whatever they want to worry about. They don't take orders from him.

As I saw someone else post on another site, "I won't stop worrying about our recruiting until Spurrier starts worrying about it."

Yeah, except we weren't worried about it last year, until the Texas A&M game happened.

If you are going to live and die by every thought that comes out of Coach Spurrier's head, you are going to probably die. lol

Doesn't matter what he says, a few people will find fault with it.

Heard the entire announcement on Kornblut tonight. Kornblut commented that he felt Coach Spurrier was fired up. That also came through to me as I listened to coach talk about Coach Hoke, the recruits he has coming in, the other coaches, and the team performing better on the field in 2015 and in the future. Sounded to me like he said all the right things.

We cant go any lower. If the D finishes in 90s, thats a plus.(Violent gut implosions occurring).

Yeah, I don't think Spurrier puts a tremendous amount of thought into what he says at times. He just says what he feels like letting out of his mouth.

He seemed pretty fired up going into last year too. I'd like to see him fired up in week 11. If he is fired up at that point, then I will be fired up with him, not before.

Yeah, except we weren't worried about it last year, until the Texas A&M game happened.
That's because coaches said it was the best team we have fielded.

And yet some still wonder why not every Gamecock fan "trusts the coaches." "best team we've fielded" my @ss.

Thank you Coach Steve Spurrier for

The best South Carolina football team ever.

The second best South Carolina football team ever.

The third best South Carolina football team ever.

The fourth best South Carolina football team ever.

One disappointing season is no reason to act like little spoiled child.

Disappointing my @ss. That defense was flat out embarrassing and putrid. You don't get a license to put a garbage defense on the field like that just because you had a few good years among some pretty bad ones. You have to win a championship for that kind of credit. I don't care what your name is or who you coach for. There is no free passes for that BS without a championship.

Spurrier thought our team was going to be really good last year? Well he was really wrong wasn't he? I wonder where he got that idea from. I won't fall for that kind of baseless hype this year. Don't say anything, just show me. Show me the defense is fixed. Show me you can win in the SEC without Connor Shaw. Don't want hear any promises or predictions about it. Just do it.

SOS is not a good public speaker - like you stated in your post, he simply says what he thinks - most of the time. There are exceptions to this where he seems to have chosen his words carefully, ex, praising the other team, social issues, university policies, etc.

I just wish that, when it comes to answering questions about how much longer he'll coach at USC, he'd respond:

'As long as they want me' or . . .

'When they carry me out feet first' (my favorite - Dan Patrick would love it - it would become SOS's moniker re: his time remaining at Carolina and forever erase the memory of that awful gaff, ' . . .oh, 2-3 years'

Read, tough post but true. You sound like the way Spurrier talks.

There just seems to be a lot of confusion about the FB team right now. I hope it gets straightened out. The three losses in 4th qtr were in my opinion the fault of Ward but he still has a job for some reason.
It's hard to understand how USC can go from 3 straight 11 win seasons to this in just 4 months of FB. I just hope we aren't gonna go thru another Lou 2 or 3 season flops before we get a new head FB coach.

I just couldn't believe he used the 2-3 year thing of all things he could have said.

Not really fair. The HBC probably worries a lot getting the recruits but once they have decided to go elsewhere, then don't worry about what was decided and is now out of our hands. I don't get that people think that we should wring our hands, wear ashes, tear their robes, and wear sackcloth AFTER a recruit makes his decision. There are plenty of other things to do than worry about what is in the past.

The best way to improve is to recognize past shortcomings and do your best to not repeat the same mistakes. To say "just don't worry about it " is a sure way to maintain the status quo...We needed to recruit a large number of "difference makers" in this year's class to compensate for those graduated, left the program, or just those on board who have not panned out for whatever reason..We had them early on but lost them..Our "misses" should be in the forefront and analyzed as to what went wrong so as not to have a repeat next year..

My only real worry is that Spurrier gets complacent. We need Spurrier at his best, which means we need to keep holding him to fire. HE needs that to stay on top of his game. Remember how much he was sweating after the Iowa game? That is when we started getting better, and then it was the Pizza Bowl, and we gotten even better after that, got the Atlanta and then stunk up our last two games, and then after that 3 11-win seasons with 3 bowl wins. It almost felt like, "we arrived." Not really, but it kind of felt that way. The point is, he's done is best when he has been frustrated. I don't know how the next couple of years are going to play out, I just HOPE that the bad season was the reality check he need to get back on the right track.

When your coach is Steve Spurrier than he doesn't get the benefit of having the same expectations of any old South Carolina coach. He isn't being compared to those guys. He's using his clout to recruit and get fans excited, he's got to back that hype up. He can get away with a "disappointing season" here and there, but he can't show up on Saturday or Opening Night Thursday with everyone in the country watching us right after an hour special of how great a coach he has been than then show up with a stinker team.

If there's one thing we learned this post-season, Spurrier doesn't care what the fans want. He's going to coach his team the way he thinks is best. That's OK with me as long as we are either 1) winning, 2) showing improvement or 3) graduating 100% of our players.
