Colten (Slash) Gauthier

I assume he's definitely not in the top 2 in the QB. If he was, he should be 100% focused on football. Performing music is very time consuming if you're trying to be above average with it. There's only so many hours in a day. You split your time up into too many priorities, and you'll be mediocre at best in everything.

Good lord, I sorry he didnt ask your permission to play a little guitar on the side. Why do we only have a bunch of A-holes on here now?

You must be expressing sarcasm. Because I'm sure you would believe that its a good thing to be well rounded, and educated, in a number of endeavors.

Guitars are surprisingly portable

You think you may have jumped to conclusions a bit?

I don’t know how he juggles his time. Not my business. All I care about is if he is throwing TD passes in games and moving the offense down the field.

It I had the chance to play QB for Carolina. That would be my life (besides school work) for the next four years.

If he isn’t focused enough on football he may be playing that guitar from the bench. We’ll see in august.

I'm being dead serious. Would Shaw, the Manning's, etc.... be dedicating time away from the game to play music? Especially when you are two months away from the season. I get it, he's just a guy to run the scout team basically unless there's some injuries. But if he was in serious contention to start for us, I would really be disappointed. Would you like to see the 24hr schedule a player has to deal?

Do you think about or work at your job every second of the day? To say a player should have no other interest than football is insane.

Good grief. Kids, if you’re reading, this is a horrible take. Right up there with dropping every sport to focus solely on baseball year round…which pretty much any real player that made it will tell you is a bad decision.

Experience different sports. Try new things. Enjoy life. Football, or whatever it is, will be over one day. Can’t imagine many things being more time consuming than golf, yet tons of big time athletes play golf in their downtime. Jordan did, Curry does, Romo did, Barkley did, Rice did, Brady does, Rodgers does, the Mannings did. Spurrier did. Hell, Bobby Cox MADE the 90’s Braves pitching staff play golf on the days they weren’t pitching.

A proper athlete needs to have a clear mind and not doing something that you enjoy and relaxes them is actually very counter productive.

hell I bet most players spend 2-3 hours a day playing video games

I hope there isn’t a picture of him playing video games, off fishing or golfing.I guess he has to sleep with the playbook and a football also.

He has been playing guitar for many years, and he's very good at it. He isn't putting 3 hours a day into it to learn it. If other guys are putting in 7 or 8 hours a week into video games, then it's ok for him to put those hours into music. I mean, we have a freaking music studio in the football building.
Someone mentioned Peyton Manning. That guy is a scratch golfer. He didn't get that good picking up golf after he retired. He was playing golf year round when he was playing football. Just like Jordan was playing golf 7 days a week when he was winning titles.

Every athlete has an outlet outside of their sport, to stay sane, . I would rather our qb's play instruments, instead of partying/getting drunk (like a few of our past qb's).

Our QB is way cooler than yours

If he was posting because he just wanted to play for "fun" on the side, that's cool. But I'm assuming he was referring to wanting someone to pay him money to take part in making music. Two completely different things. There's nothing wrong with having fun, but having a "side business" and being a SEC QB doesn't go well together.

You still don't know what you're talking about and are just digging a deeper hole.
I guess you didn't hear about the rap studio located at USC used as a recruiting tool?
People make tracks on the laptops and sell them all the time. It can be done just about anywhere.
He certainly can run a "side business" and be fully committed to being a student/athlete.

He’s freaking good . That patience solo ain’t no joke . Some tricky stuff in there . Dude definitely has some chops . Good for him . Oh and the dude that said he should focus on just football …. Stupid ass take . Great that this kid can play gigs and football . It’s freaking awesome

Whatever. Having a side business vs doing something for fun is completely different. There's only 24hrs in a day. You can NOT be fully committed to both.

Well, do you believe a college kid should just play football 100% of the time and do nothing else? And I realize you are probably not suggesting this.
Of course not, but you wake up between 5-6am, eat, go workout, go to classes, eat, go to more classes, study hall, then practice, then supper. Then if you're able to do it, enjoy some relaxing time, then bed. Then repeat. That's your life for 8 out of 12 months of the year. Then if you happen to be an athlete who is going to college for something other than the hotel and tourism degree, you actually have to study during what some guys get to enjoy as relaxing time. So you tell me when you have time to focus on a side business?? One that actually requires practice and work at to be good enough to earn any money.
And for the ones referring to the Braves pitchers and NFL players having hobbies, of course they have hobbies. They don't have school to deal with, so it's not even close as a comparison.

I hope no kids are reading this, if they want to amount to anything they need to focus solely on precisely those ambitions alone.

so having wives, children, and bills to pay doesn’t take a lot of time and effort?

I'm glad he has a hobby and creative outlet. It should remain just that, though.

The ones that work part time jobs I guess should quit those jobs just to study up on football?

Couldn't hear much of what he was playing, but he definitely looks cool holding a guitar
