Like they did against Stanford? UCONN won't blow us outOriginally posted by sanfordcock:
We have a very good team. UConn usually plays at another level in games of this magnitude. We don't shoot the 3 or free throws very well. This will hurt in a game like this. Can we win? Yes, but UConn can also blow us out. I've said all along if we stay within 10 points I count it a success. Learn and take it to the tourney.
USC is actually #45 nationally in 3pt pct. at 35.4%. The difference between that and the top 15 is only 2%. That means, one more made 3pt per every 4 games.Originally posted by sanfordcock:

Wish someone would post this data ^^^ on UCONN's board. They need something more relevant to consider than comparing point differentials for a team that does not play in the SEC.Originally posted by uscbeckham:

Also, UConn is only 3% higher in FT pct. than USC, but Carolina gets to the line a lot more. USC has 419 FTA vs UConn's 339. USC has two more made free throws per game than UConn.
They have played in many more games at this level of magnitude over their coach's career. The Huskies have won Nine (9) national championships, made itOriginally posted by sanfordcock:
I'll be more than happy to eat my words, but I've seen UConn over the years and they just seem to kick into a different gear at home, and particularly with the hype this game is getting and will get if SC is undefeated.
As I've pointed out in other threads, even if we lose I think we can get them in the tournament later if we face them.
Not sure if it would be all that neutral. Final Four is in Tampa, so if our girls make it there, we could travel.Originally posted by sgacock:

to 15 Final Fours, and won over 30 Big East/AAC regular season and
tournament championships. I seem to remember them playing several #1 vs. #2 regular season games against Pat Summit teams over the years.
As long as our team comes away from their house knowing we can hang with them there, I will feel fine about a more important post-season match-up on a neutral court.
I can go along with this. Right now, I believe UConn wins by 5-10, but anything is possible when you have a defense and athletes like ours.Originally posted by wycombecock:
This... Plus our schedule has been and will continue to be tougher than UCONN. I believe Wilson will explode in this game... if Sessions and Bianca dont turn the ball over in out of control passes we will win.

....yea, but to be the champ, you only have to beat the champs at the end of the year on a neutral court... Feb. 9th means very little in the big pictureOriginally posted by sgacock:

Til we do, we're just anudder contender!
I hope to someday be as big a fan as you, Beck. I appreciate how you stay out of the fray (of attitudes) and post only about the teams. I wish there more like you.Originally posted by uscbeckham:

What we really need to do is play a close, competitive game and let our depth get to them. UConn plays 7-8 girls. USC plays 10.
Roy, Welch, Wilson, Dozier, White, Mitchell, Cuevas, Coates, Ibiam, and Sessions are all capable of playing 15 or more minutes. We need to use that to our advantage.
They have 5 girls that have 2 national championships, and that says enough. But saying we are going to play a team that has 9 National championships is freaking ridiculous. Why are you going so overboard? It's not like Rebbecca Lobo, and Sue Bird, and Diana Taurasi, and Mya Moore and Tina Charles are going to be suiting up against us.Originally posted by sgacock:

It doesn't sound about right to me. It doesn't sound right that they have UConn ranked 8th. RPI is not a good indicator of how good UConn is because they are play far inferior competition. Just because they are destroying crappy teams that doesn't mean they aren't the best team in the country. They fixed what ever was wrong early in the year against Stanford and then they just beat the snot out of everyone since including excellent ND and Duke teams.Originally posted by cockhornleghorn:
Real Time RPI has done a very good job of predicting our scores and they predict us to win 68-67, which sounds about right. The team doesn't need to read UCONN's board for extra motivation, as they will already be fired up. One can only get so jacked up before a game.
