Covid19

So sorry my friend....stay strong. You will get through this.
I appreciate it. I know people say that you’ll get through this and all but honestly, I was looking forward to the holidays and after that news, I could care less. I’m trying to be strong for my wife but it just seems everything lately has been bad news.

I work in a county office and in our department there is around 33 people. We only have 2 doors to get into our area. Myself along with 4 others are the only people wearing a mask currently. I tested positive back on October 16. 2 others in my department got it. One should be back Monday next week. The other was supposed to retire Wednesday of last week and start a new job in Spartanburg. He has tested positive 2 more times since his initial test.

Sounds like it's a classic petri dish with little to no fresh air or sunlight.

Those are the most difficult situations.

Make sure your Vit D, Vit K, and magnesium levels are good.

Limiting carb intake during symptoms can also be effective in many ways - including that carbs/glucose are required to produce mucin in the lungs which can hinder breathing during cytokine storms.

It's ok to grieve, and those telling you it will get better are just trying to give you hope. I can tell you really love your wife, and she can tell it too. That comfort you give each other will see you through along with prayer and faith. There's so much we don't understand, and can't. Just try to understand each other.

Thank you so much. I appreciate the kind words. It means a lot. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

It's good that your church is taking the necessary precautions to stop the spread. As I stated ours isn't doing anything. No social distancing, no encouraging of wearing masks, opened up a coffee shop and had a invite as many friends as you can day a few weeks ago. In a normal setting, inviting the friends to church and opening up a coffee shop would be fine, but encouraging bringing as many people as you can and whoever brings the most wins an iPad is just not a good idea during these times.

Having an invite contest where the winner gets an iPad is never a good idea for a church. That motive is wrong from the start.

I agree and we haven't gone back since. We are still tithing and watching online, but after that, I thought that was in bad taste.

I'm getting a little tired of the "take it seriously" hysterics. What does that even mean, anyway. Its as though most people have never been actually sick before.

I'm 66. I've had the flu multiple times over my life. I had the "hong kong" flu, I had the "swine" flu. I've had it within the past five years even after getting a flu vaccine. The hong kong flu was by far the worst for me personally. I've been hospitalized two weeks for pneumonia as well.

I also had covid-19. While it made me me extremely weak and was very "weird" feeling, for me it was also short in duration compared to the flu and pneumonia. I've been active and fit my entire life and still am, don't know if that was a factor or not, but covid-19 for me was a couple of days of hell, while flu is typically a week of hell, and pneumonia two weeks of hell.

A friend of mine, same age, used to be in pro wrestling but let himself go pretty much completely the past twenty years or so, has been hospitalized several times over that time with blood infections in his legs and all manner of other ailments. He was hospitalized again for covid-19 recently and was on a ventilator for three weeks. They pretty much told his wife he was a goner but the doctor that had been treating him for the blood infections in his legs the past twenty years insisted they give him with the antibody treatment and voila, he was released and in physical therapy within the week. If there ever was a poster child for "high risk" it was this guy but he came out of it

I know people have died, and I'm sorry for those families, but I'm weary of the incessant hysteria and the unreasonable fear. There are actual qualified and quantified data which are largely ignored, and there are drama data that are trumpeted like thunder daily.. We DO take it "seriously"; we also would like to take it "truthfully."
Take it seriously means wear a mask and make reasonable adjustments to how you live your life right now - don’t gather maskless in large groups. Don’t constantly travel interstate for leisure.

Just wear a freaking mask when you’re out in public and shopping/working in an office, etc. It’s not that hard.

Take it seriously - but doing do doesn’t deprive you of massive freedoms or 100% disrupt your life, deal with it.

Whether masks have 100% or 0% efficacy, I’ve yet to hear a solid argument as to why someone wouldn’t wear one. It makes no sense to me. What is there to lose by wearing a mask other than your own independent choice? Such selfishness in my opinion.

That said, I know nothing of the OP’s circumstances, but some of these comments are appalling...
This. 👏👏👏

I know that so many people are against wearing masks, but if everyone wore them it would stop the spread. I know people will say they’ve worn a mask and still got it, however you must assume that everyone is carrying it so wear a mask

He rarely left the house and alway wore a mask. We believe he got it from contaminated food. The lady who cooked for him tested positive.

Vitamin K is a blood thicker, so some people need to be careful with that.

But Dr. Fauci said you cannot get it that way. He said it is not a food born disease. Was that yet another lie? Who knows? The only thing I know for sure is I am sick and tired of being lied to.

If we lockdown again then the economy will nosedive immediately. Country can’t afford that.
While I agree with not closing the economy, if more people just wore masks it would help dramatically. People at my work have said to me, "You've worn one and still got it! Yeah but the other 27 people in my department haven't been wearing masks. One other guy in my department just came back to work Monday this week. We had another guy who retired to go work in Spartanburg who hasn't been able to start his job yet because he has tested positive a 4th time for it.

No use in arguing about mask as it will be a federal mandate in January. If governors balk, Biden will go straight to local governments for implementation. This is just what I’ve read.

I really hate that it has come to that. I understand people have free will and the power of choice, but if more people would have done it willingly, then a mandate probably wouldn't have had to happen. I'm not arguing by no means. Just stating the obvious.

And there will be a big revolt. You can talk to people and explain the options, but forcing them to wear masks sounds like socialism all over. We supposedly live in a country of freedom, but seems that we are going to get ultimatum orders telling us what is best for us.

Feel bad for everyone effected. Especially those who tried their best to stay safe and keep others safe by following the mask & social distancing protocols. This ain't the flu, we ain't turning the corner, & it sure as hell didn't disappear on Nov 3rd. Wear your mask, keep your distance, wash your hands & hopefully with the addition of the vaccine we get this behind us asap.

I did not wear my seat belt for a few years after it became law here in NC, however once I got a ticket and it cost me some $$$ I buckled up. Now its just a normal thing and do not think twice about it. As you said, cant trust people to do the right thing, They tried to oust our Governor this year with ads stating Dan Forrest will open NC up....what they left off of those billboards is the fact more people will die as well. I am thankful our Governor has been very conservative with this virus although he caught a lot of flack about it.

Every public place i go requires a mask to enter. Everyone in the establishments is wearing a mask. It's already being done, so why does there need to be a mandate? The answer is one is not needed. This is a political move, not a health move. This is a way for government to take control of things and control your lives as much as possible. Even a blind wombat could see this.

I wish it was that way here, all public places have signs saying its required, but Id say about 25% or so are not wearing them. Lowes was pretty good for the most part but I went in last Monday and saw several without masks. Problem is places are requiring them, but not enforcing them, probably do not want to end up in a confrontation and on the even news :)

I sure hope mask wearing becomes a national mandate. It's already been proven that you can't leave that decision up to the people and hope they act responsible. Henry are you listening?
It won’t matter. When large numbers of people are deciding Fox is too moderate you’ve lost any hope of common sense prevailing and you can’t force that on people.
