Appalachian State: Shelby High School (N.C.) head coach Lance Ware has joined the App State staff as senior assistant to the head coach. Ware is a former App State player and won five state championships over the last six years.

Arkansas: Auburn director of player relations Kenny Ingram will become defensive line coach at Arkansas, according to 247Sports.

Georgia: Outside linebackers coach Dan Lanning has been promoted to defensive coordinator, and inside linebackers coach Glenn Schumann has been promoted to co-defensive coordinator, according to The Athletic’s Seth Emerson. In addition, offensive line coach Sam Pittman has added the title of associate head coach, Dell McGee has added the title of run game coordinator, and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton has added the title of pass game coordinator.

Alabama: The school has officially announced the staff additions: Offensive coordinator / quarterback coach Steve Sarkisian, defensive line / associate head coach Brian Baker, running backs / associate head coach Charles Huff, safeties coach / associate defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, offensive line coach Kyle Flood, outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri and wide receivers coach Holman Wiggins. In addition, Pete Golding has been promoted to defensive coordinator.

Tennessee: Jeremy Pruitt announced that new assistant Derrick Ansley will be defensive coordinator / defensive backs coach, and Tee Martin will coach wide receivers and be passing game coordinator / assistant head coach. Ansley, who coached with the Oakland Raiders last year, will earn $1 million annually on a three-year deal. Previous defensive coordinator Kevin Sherrer moves to inside linebackers coach / special teams coordinator, previous wide receivers coach David Johnson moves to running backs, and previous running backs coach Chris Weinke moves to quarterbacks coach. The Vols will have six offensive coaches and four defensive coaches.

Florida: The school has announced an extension for defensive coordinator Todd Grantham through 2022 and a raise from $1.4 million annually to $1.8 million. It was signed on Jan. 14. Per the contract, Grantham would owe 50 percent of his remaining contract if he leaves for another job unless it’s a Division I or NFL head coaching job or an NFL defensive coordinator job.

Florida: Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham will stay with the Gators, turning down the Cincinnati Bengals, according to Yahoo Sports and multiple reports.


Eastern Kentucky: Wide receivers coach / special teams coordinator Kevin Koger has left for an offensive quality control position with the Green Bay Packers.

Illinois: Toledo wide receivers coach Mike Bellamy has joined Illinois as running backs coach, according to ESPN and multiple reports.

Bucknell: Valparaiso offensive coordinator Jason Miran has followed Dave Cecchini to Bucknell as offensive coordinator, and Ohio Dominican defensive coordinator Ryan Manalac has joined Bucknell as defensive coordinator.

Purdue: Auburn defensive backs coach Greg Brown will join the Purdue staff as cornerbacks coach, according to Yahoo Sports and 247Sports.

Buffalo: Benedictine University (Ill.) head coach Brad McCaslin has rejoined Buffalo as defensive tackles coach. McCaslin spent 2016-17 as an analyst for the Bulls.

Michigan State: Mark Dantonio has received a one-year extension through 2025. Dantonio has a six-year rolling contract.

Appalachian State: Former Kansas tight ends / fullbacks coach Garrett Riley has joined App State as an offensive assistant, and former Kentucky defensive assistant Anwar Stewart has joined as a defensive assistant. This completes Eli Drinkwitz’s staff.

Rutgers: Kansas City Chiefs quality control assistant Jay Valai will join Rutgers as cornerbacks coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg.

Florida State: Willie Taggart announced that offensive line coach Greg Frey will not return. Frey spent one season on staff.

LSU: Former Cleveland Browns assistant offensive line coach Mark Hutson has joined LSU as an analyst, a person with knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic’s Chris Vannini. In addition, analyst Brad Kragthorpe has left for another position. FootballScoop first reported the news. Another person with knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic that analyst Donovan Jackson has put in his notice at LSU and is exploring other coaching opportunities, interviewing with multiple NFL teams.

Penn State: Special teams coordinator Phil Galiano is leaving for a job in the NFL, the school announced. Galiano spent two years on staff. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Galiano will be the assistant special teams coach with the New Orleans Saints.

Louisiana Tech: Former Houston wide receivers coach Kenny Guiton will join LA Tech as wide receivers coach, according to Bleed Tech Blue. Guiton had recently joined the Stephen F. Austin staff.

Utah State: Gary Andersen has completed his staff, and Andersen will coach the defensive tackles, he tells The Athletic’s Chris Vannini.

BYU: Former Texas State offensive line coach Eric Mateos has been named offensive line coach at BYU. Mateos worked with currently BYU offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes at LSU.

Akron: Kent State defensive backs coach Jonathan Cooley has joined the Akron staff as defensive backs coach, according to his Twitter account. Cooley spent one year at Kent State and previously worked with Akron head coach Tom Arth at Chattanooga.

Southern Illinois: Jerry Kill has been named the full-time athletic director. The former SIU, NIU and Minnesota head coach had been in the interim job since April 2018. Kill stepped down as Rutgers offensive coordinator in 2017 due to health issues.

Ohio State: Former cornerbacks coach Taver Johnson has been named assistant defensive backs coach with the Oakland Raiders.

UC Davis: Head coach Dan Hawkins has signed a two-year extension through 2023 after a 10-3 season. In addition, offensive coordinator Tim Plough has added the title of associate head coach, and offensive line coach Tim Keane has added the title of running game coordinator.

Colorado: Associate head strength and conditioning coach Joey Guarascio has been promoted to head strength and conditioning coach.

Texas Tech: North Texas outside receivers coach Joel Filani has joined the Texas Tech staff as outside receivers coach. Filani is a former Texas Tech wide receiver and spent three years at UNT.

Oregon: Texas Tech wide receivers coach Jovon Bouknight will join the Oregon staff as wide receivers coach, according to The Oregonian and multiple reports. Bouknight spent the last 10 years at Utah State and followed Matt Wells to Texas Tech.

Oregon: Defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt and the school have reached a financial settlement with his departure, a person with knowledge of the situation tells The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman. Last year, Leavitt signed a four-year contract worth $1.7 million annually. Update: The school has announced Leavitt will receive $2.5 million, payable over multiple years and subject to offset from another job.
