Dave Clawson

I feel certain he is on someone's list. We have to remember that they might start with a list of 10-12 names to vet and determine if there is any interest. They will then get that down to 4 or 5 they want to interview.

Excellent coach. Have wondered why he hasn't been more central to the discussion

I mentioned him a few days ago and was told no interest. He's won in the MAC, is winning at WF,what's not to like?
He's got head coaching experience
He's only 53 years old
He can recruit N.C' VA, MD
Runs a clean program as far as I know.

He’s spent more time as a HC than a coordinator so he’s not experienced enough for the job here.

Why do we want someone who is 53 years old???? He would only sick around 10 years and we need someone who is young and hungry to coach a team that is a dumpster fire to riches.. It will take about 15-20 years to get this program back to 11-2 every year... If we had Spurrier at the age 40 something, who knows where we would be today and how many championships we could have played for...

If he stays 10 years and improves the program a better coach could be hired when he leaves. Realistically Joe Brady and Urban Meyer being mentioned on this board is a joke. Someone like Clawson, Clark (UAB) or even Chris Klieman (KSU) are more likely to come here

U forget....USC is a school known for where coaches go to end their careers

I think the days of coaches staying for 20+ years at the same school are over for the most part. If you can get 10-15 years from a coach I think you should count yourself lucky.

I just think the guy is a good fit.

Where would you rank the SC job in the SEC? I have it between 7-10 range.

Where would you rank the WF job in the ACC? I have it 13 or 14.

Clawson is a great coach...and should be a top 3 candidate on our list. He's proven. I don't know how a Beamer is publicly on the fans' lists and advocated for.....but Clawson isn't.

Because with Clawsons background, it is just proven on the field. It doesn't inspire the world wondrous hope that someone without HC, or coordinator, experience would magically be the USC answer to Dabo. USC would merely be a very well coached football team under Clawson. But many around Columbia are fascinated with hiring the nice guy.

Looks like Clemson is one of those lucky teams...
