Could have gotten paid for that in 2021..
A howitzer? Are you kidding? Steve had a pretty average arm by SEC standards. Lots of wounded ducks out of that arm. Still, he was a fun guy to have at QB at times.if not why? i just remember him from when i was a kid, but man did he have a howitzer! and swag!
Haha...talk about swag. Can you imagine a team with him on offense and Swearinger on defense? He was undrafted and picked up by the Jags and served as a preseason backup for the 1996 season. Don't think he really played much at all, though and was dropped before the season. He spent the 1997 season with the Frankfurt Galaxy, but I don't think he played.
JAGUARS RELEASE EX-GATOR DOERING
Chris Doering, the former University of Florida wide receiver, was among 17 players waived Monday as the Jacksonville Jaguars pared their roster to today’s mandatory 60-man limit. Doering, a …www.orlandosentinel.com
Taneyhill remains my favorite player for how he singlehandedly picked that 1992 team up off the scrap heap and lead us to a hair's breadth of a bowl game. We've never seen a single player make that big of a different before. He was a very good college QB. His senior year he had a 67.1% completion percentage and 29 TDs against only 9 INTs. However, the pros looked on him as a system QB, which is probably accurate. With all the swag he had, it would have been A LOT of fun to see him play on some better teams.

I wouldn't be surprised. Jimmy Johnson was all business.I seem to remember he signed a FA deal with Dallas. Then he did something stupid his first day in camp and Jimmy Johnson cut him on the spot.
If that is not true...... well it should br
a howitzer? not how I remember it. Anything over 10-15 yards looked like a wounded duck.if not why? i just remember him from when i was a kid, but man did he have a howitzer! and swag!
what is he doing these days?if not why? i just remember him from when i was a kid, but man did he have a howitzer! and swag!
Last I heard, he was the owner/operator of the new Group Therapy in Five Points.what is he doing these days?
He was slower than yogi.if not why? i just remember him from when i was a kid, but man did he have a howitzer! and swag!

True. Most QBs were back then, though. Highly mobile QBs were more of an oddity..
You don't remember Steve hitting some LB's and DB's directly between the numbers on occasion?? Haha. Still love him, but I remember it all. His positives outweighed his negatives. I think if he would of went to the right situation, he could of had a career in the NFL. At least as a number 2 guy.Taneyhill from an ability standpoint, reminded me of Ken Dorsey, not the strongest arm, but knew where to go with the football and weren't gonna kill you with bonehead plays.
Of course Dorsey had far more around him at "the U" and wasn't seeing his exploits drug down by a defense giving up 35+ ppg and 500+ ypg.
Hard to believe that was almost 25 yrs ago (8/20/96).He was undrafted and picked up by the Jags and served as a preseason backup for the 1996 season.

He looks EXACTLY like I thought he would look now. I loved that guy.
I remember that to, LOLIIRC he got in on the final snap of a preseason game with the Jags. Either a kneel-down or a handoff, can't remember which, but I remember being pissed that I sat through most of a Jacksonville pre-season game just to see that 😂 Pretty sure that was the extent of his NFL career.
