Do you think the ACC is sick over the Part Time deal with ND now?***

I was wondering the same thing. I think the a she she did it with the hopes that ND would ultimately join in football, too.

Should never have done it. Should have told ND you compete in the ACC in ALL league-sponsored sports if you want to join us.

Speaks poorly of the ACC, IMO.
If ND does join in football, I think it hurts the Irish long term. Because, ND gets a diluted down verison of college football.

University of Miami comes to mind as a school whose athletic fortunes took a turn for the worse upon joining the ACC.

ACC has no scruples and would even welcome Pedophile State. Karma is catching up with those pretenders.

ND has the acc cake, are eating it, and the icing TOO.......

Shameful that the acc stooped to ND's demand to remain an independent in football (ie: retain ALL of their football generated income), and allows them to win the acc in basketball, baseball, and most other sports.

Trying to remain relevant in football will get you screwed like this....

VT down, Miami down, the NC schools all down, UVA down, BC down, Cuse down, etc.

Only FSU, CU, and GT are improved in this new acc. Primarily because they have the BEST facilities, and their in-conference competition is, for the most part, PATHETIC...

And FSU comes to mind as a school whose athletic fortunes took a turn for the better upon joining the ACC. National Championships in football prior to joining the ACC = zero. National Championships in football since joining the ACC - THREE.

I'm pretty sure the fan bases of the ACC schools are pretty thrilled at the thought of playing ND every three years. Helps recruiting, helps ticket sales, helps TV revenue, helps get a better bowl lineup. Adding ND isn't the gripe of expansion. Its schools like UNC playing Wake or Duke playing NC State once every 7 or 8 yrs that is the cost of expansion.

And every fan base in the SEC would jump at the chance to play ND every 3 yrs. You won't admit it, but its the truth.

Notre Dame can't hold a candle to the football teams we already have to play. Our conference boasts the best baseball, football and Ladies Basketball in the NCAA period. I wouldn't trade off Alabama to play the domers. Nor LSU, nor Florida, nor Auburn, nor Georgia or even Clemson. The ACC was desperate to take the crumbs offered by Notre Dame and they got what they paid for. Syracuse is on probation, Miami is a used to be, The (ACC) North Carolina conference is just that a North Carolina loaded conference. Ask Maryland how life is after leaving the ACC.

Sure they would, but they wouldn't look at it with the same anticipation that the ACC fan bases are showing. SEC fan bases don't need another "big TV" game as badly as the ACC fans do. You may not admit it, but it's the truth.

Notre Dame football is a national icon and while it has been a long time since Notre Dame was a legitimately elite team, a game against them still gets national exposure. So any fan base would look at a game against the Irish as a big deal. But only a few, if any, SEC schools would rank a game against Notre Dame as their biggest game of the year. If an Alabama fan could only attend one game, or three games, each year, the Notre Dame game isn't likely to be his choice. Same for LSU, Auburn, Georgia, SC, and the majority of SEC teams. I'm not sure how A&M, Missouri, Vandy, or Kentucky fans might view a games against ND, but I am sure they would all agree that a road game in South Bend would not rank among their toughest road environments of the year.

It surprised me how well they are doing. I think there was a rumor that Va was gonna join the B10, too. Wish they had. It's always fun hoping that the Big East2 will crumble.

Thats not exactly true. In the past they retained all money from TV on home and away games. Thats not the case now. With the 5 games they play against the ACC two are home(ND gets that TV money) two are away(ACC gets that TV money and one is almost always neutral(they rotate that money depending on who is the home team). So the ACC gets money that was once going to ND for 2-3 games every year.

Also it was figured that football is 80% of the ACC TV deal and basketball, baseball, etc are the other 20%. ND only gets 1/15th of the 20% from the ACC TV deal. Considering adding those 5 games in football and ND in other sports added a couple of million to each teams yearly payout I would say the ACC got a pretty good deal.
