I am happy for us and pleasantly surprised.I feel about 99% certain that with the last coaching staff in place, he would have walked.
In today’s game QB mechanics are overrated. Any old school coach would cringe watching Maholmes but he can deliver it when and where he wants. Why?
Honest question.
I keep seeing people stating that as fact, some posting here were actually encouraging him to leave.
When Bobo arrived, he noted (correctly) that Ryan’s mechanics were all screwed up.
Anyone who understands anything about throwing mechanics could watch film of Ryan at the start and end of last season, and see the obvious regression in his mechanics.
Some of it was obviously due to his knee and elbow injuries, some was obviously mental as he was rushing to unload the ball.
What some of you may not understand is that fixing mechanical flaws isn’t always a short term deal. Once muscle memory changes it can take time and be very difficult to get back into form.
I’d say Ryan was mature enough, and patient enough to understand that. Some of our fan base should take note.
We were basically stuck this season. Ryan wasn’t ready to play again at a high level, and to be truthful neither was Doty. The only variable Doty brought us is more of an ability to run around, he has a lot to work on with his passing skills.
It was a free year....no RS necessary. Is he to be redshirted? He hardly played, correct?
That guy is a passing machine. In today’s game QB mechanics are overrated. Any old school coach would cringe watching Maholmes but he can deliver it when and where he wants.
Phillip Rivers. Terrible mechanics....Spurrier would have tried to correct him, but he has proven that it works for him. It's not just the new quarterbacks, there have always been exceptions. In today’s game QB mechanics are overrated. He sees the new hire as opening back up the competition at a fair level.
Probably a very good observation. He sees the new hire as opening back up the competition at a fair level.

Beamer will have proven his recruiting mettle already if this is true. If anyone in America had "portal" written on his forehead, it was this guy. I would consider this a very good indication.

Maybe he knows Bobo is out the door.Beamer will have proven his recruiting mettle already if this is true. If anyone in America had "portal" written on his forehead, it was this guy. I would consider this a very good indication.
That would help but it wouldn't be enough.Maybe he knows Bobo is out the door.
How about Aaron Murray (UGA 2009-2013) for Bobo? He's only the all-time SEC leader in passing yards by a couple thousand yards, TD's passing, and QB rating among several other categories. He lit us up a couple of games against Spurrier's best defenses. If Bobo has a passer here to average 3300 yards passing in the SEC for 4 straight years while finishing in the top 10 nationally every year, I'll gladly take that!Honest answer: Will Muschamp and Mike Bobo have a horrific track record for developing quarterbacks. Outside of Matthew Stafford, I would be hard pressed to come up with one quality QB they coached in about 40 years of football coaching experience.
It would be a lot, IMO. He would know that he's in for a fair competition again. That would help but it wouldn't be enough.

Well, we "Lattimored" the dawgs two of those years and Ingram, Taylor and Clowney may have gotten to Murray half a dozen times in 2011. My point being that Murray is the all-time SEC passing leader .... not Manning, Spurrier or Namath .... and Bobo developed him.Maybe but I think we had a better QB than Aaron Murray during that time. I seem to remember him being 1-3 vs South Carolina and in a few of those games he didn’t look very good to me.

I hope he lets the best man win so to speak Muschamp had his starter and wouldn't not change his mind no matter what.it opens back up the competition because no one quarterback will know the system and nuances of it better than the rest. If that is what you mean by "fair", then I agree.
