as we have a tough row (corrected) to hoe at UConn.

Very few experts expect us to win this game, and many think it will be over early. We are a young team still learning how to play at a top5 level. I believe that next year would be our year to truly challenge for the championship.

My goal at the beginning of the season was the final four and an SEC championship...regular season and tournament. I think we can reach these goals.

As for tonight, it will take a massive effort to win this one. Perimeter defense will have to shine and we are going to have to have a high FG%, including from beyond the arc. How we respond to a UConn run (which we will see without a doubt) will tell me a lot about where we are as a top5 team.

I am not being pessimistic, just realistic. I don't think we are quite there yet, but games like tonight will help us get there. UConn has these games all of the time. I will say this. Their fanbase and coach are confident that they will win easily (maybe rightfully so). However, I would love nothing more than for us to wipe that smirk off his face. It may have to wait to later in the season or at home next year.

Just my 2 cents. I am really hopeful we can give them a good game.

corrected....thanks for help

Rad: I can't believe you called UConn "hoes". That'll surely make the board tonight. LOL

Really, we have not been 'there' before but we've had some big games this year. Arguably more than UConn because of SOS.

I think we shock the WBB world when we leave Storrs with a W tonight.

Maybe you should have also said "don't get too excited if the women win." A couple of years ago, Notre Dame beat UCONN twice in the regular season and once in the Big East tournament, only to lose to the Lady Huskies in the NCAA tournament championship game. Tonight is just one regular season game, and not even a conference game.

Win or lose, this game won't define either team. There's so much hype around the game, and rightfully so, that it's easy to lose sight of the fact that it's just another OOC game for both teams. In Geno's mind, and I'm sure in Dawn's mind, winning the conference title is the most important thing prior to the NCAA tournament....Once March rolls around, you can forget what happened in the regular season. Do both Coaches want to win tonight? You betcha! But seriously, what does it really mean to whoever loses? It's more about temporary bragging rights than anything else. What happens during the regular season is not an indication of what happens in March....Notre Dame knows that very well in it's games against UConn. If Uconn meets Stanford again in the tournament, they will know as well....I suspect if you meet Duke again the game will be settled by more than 1 point.

I'm just happy that UConn will finally be playing a team they'll have to break a sweat playing. I'm looking forward to the game and I hope it's a good one. I think it will be. Your size will definitely present problems we have not had to deal with this season. Do I think UConn will win? Yes I do....but not by the 20-30 points some of us frostbitten brained northerners think. I'll be shocked if that's the case.....and if you DO lose, I think your team would benefit and learn from a loss at this point more than win. Look what our loss to Stanford did for us....woke us the hell up and told the players "hey, just because it says UCONN on your Jersey doesn't mean you don't have to show up to play. (although, is the crappy AAC, all we have to do is pretty much show up).

IMO, conference games are more important, but I still really want to win tonight. Here's to a great game and good luck to the Huskies the rest of the season.

Quit laughing at Radcock. He would make mens meat outta' you if he gets his hands on you.
You know I am sensitive and despise imperfections....my personal post editor is on vacation today....I never should have ventured out without her. I remember getiing stoned once for typing "won't" instead of "want"....its a tough world.

This board melts down pretty much over anything these days.

Maybe if we WIN tonight, we should fire Frank. The only thing worse than coaching an awful men's basketball team is coaching an awful men's basketball team at a school that has the undisputed #1 women's team.

I, too, would be surprised if we won this one tonight, but if the women do pull off this victory in Storrs, I think there are going to be a lot of UConn fans seeking counseling next week. You can't even read an ESPN.com article about a Gamecock win without it being followed by a bunch of UConn fans posting comments about how they will beat us by 30. I think a lot of those fans would struggle to cope with a Gamecock victory tonight.

I guess the same would hold that the only thing worse than coaching an awful women's basketball team is coaching an awful women's basketball team at a school that has the undisputed #1 men's team.

The ladies have the talent if they play their game and don't get overwhelmed by the crowd or NY bad officiating. They can't afford to play slow start in the first half. They need all the fire power out there. I fear bad refs more than bad play.

Starting the bad reffing thing a bit early, aren't you? Don't you guys get to the line more than most teams in the country? Maybe WE should be more worried about how the game will be called.

New York bad officiating in Connecticut? Huh?
